Hey-
-i got slow ripping speed, just liek a lot of other people. I definitely have my IDE running in DMA mode. I recently wiped my harddrive completely, reinstalled WinXP Pro and DVDShrink, and even on a clean system, i still only get rip speeds of about 2X. My burner is a Memorex Dual Format drive. It burns as it should, at 4 speed. I tried ripping one of my DVD that is unencryted, and i get the same results, so i dont think its an issue of a lockout feature on the drive for encrypted DVD's as has been suggested. I put in a standard read-only DVD drive from my friend gateway, its about 2 years old.. It reads the same as my new Memorex drive..
Any ideas? It just doesnt make since to me, i'm definitely running in DMA, as stated. I've tried everything i know to do. Cant find ant firmware hacks for this model either, so i'm stuck... I can burn a DV in 14-15 minutes, but takes a hour or more to read it???
