View Full Version : Scenerist VTS-1, 4:3 VTS-2 16:9 how do I make VTS-2 autoplay when VTS 1 ends

I have a movie with a short 4:3 intro to a 16:9 movie. Since I cannot put them both in the same VTS as PGC's I needed to make each it's own VTS set. I don't want menu's. Basically I want VTS-2 to start when VTS-1 ends automatically. I have tried everything I can think of within Scenerist and IFOEdit and I either get VTS-1 to loop or I get an invalid command error when VTS-1 ends.

Thanks for the push. Although I understand the tittle stuff the Grep stuff at this point is over my head. Never been very good with hex.

Simply put I want when PGC-1 of VTS-1 ends to start PGC-1 of VTS-2. At which point I want the disc to end and not loop. The best I have been able to get so far is to loop PGC-1 of VTS-1 and if I want to play VTS-2 I have to manually change tittles. I will keep hacking, but I am about ready to drop the 6 minute mini-movie and just keep the main movie out of frustration.

Thanks,
Mark

My last gasp chance if I can't grasp this and I really want this other mini movie is to change the 16:9 anamorphic movie into a 4:3 and in that case I know how to make it autoplay or at least I think I do. Only problem is if I get a widescreen TV in the future. This way I can put both into the same VTS and just autoplay the PGC's.

Hi mark, have you tried placing a dummy link in your video manager. Then connect the post command of your 4.3 asset in vts 1 to the dummy , now connect the pre command of the dummy to your 16.9 asset in vts 2. This should now work perfectly. The thing to remember is that the only way to connect more than one VTS, whatever thier ratio is through a dummy file. I hope I have correctly understood your problem. Let me know if it works.

You can use the commands from my "trick", just donīt write anything
in the 2nd movieīs command table and the DVD will not loop.

Here are all commands you need (if you have 1 Title per VTS):

First Play PGC Command Table:

1.Pre Command If GPreg<X> = <0> then Goto line# 3
2.Pre Command If GPreg<X> = <1> then Goto line# 4
3.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: (1)
4.Pre Command (JumpTT) Jump to Title: (2)
...

Movie 1 PGC Command Table:
...
Post Command Set GPreg<X> mov <1>
Post Command Call First-Play domain PGC

My biggest confusion I guess is that in the dropdown command menu of Scenerist there, if I remember correctly, is no Gpreg command.
JumpTT I can see, but the other I don't.

Is this something I would need to do most of the authoring in Scenerist and the final part in IFOEdit or am I missing something?

I am at work now so I will have a look when I get home.

I donīt know for Scenarist, Iīm authoring with ReelDVD and making
the navigation with IfoEdit afterwards.

For the "Set GPRM" command, there is a guide and examples how to use
them with IfoEdit on my website.

Same thing clown shoes said to do. Very simple solution, just drag from the post or pre command tag. From vts1 post command tag drag to dummy pgc and set as only post command. Then from dummy pgc pre command tag drag to vts2, that's it.

The solution : for DVD Maestro Users

First Play ---> Movie1 Chapter 0

Movie1: Next ---> Movie2 Chapter 0

Movie2: Previous ---> Movie1 Chaper FINAL (the last chapter of Movie1)

Work Perfectly :)

Trust me Mark you do not need to use any GPRM commands or IFOedit to do this. Jumping from 16.9 VTSs to 4.3 VTSs is something I always have to do. Just try the way I explained above. The PGCs aspect ratio is defined within the specific VTS, therefore by jumping to a dummy in the video manager it is like reseting the aspect ratio allowing you to jump to a VTS with a different ratio. I hope I didn't make that sound more complicated than it is because it really isn't. The way Lord of The Discs has explained is necesary for him as he is working with Reel DVD, that is limited to working within one VTS and therefore needs IFOedit to be fully functional. If you are working with Scenarist then this is something that will take only a few moments to do. If you are still having problems after this then feel free to send me a copy of your .scn file and I will see where it is going wrong.

Hmm this has been said a couple of times now but maybe it's not clear yet:

1) in your VMG you add a PGC. No video needed or anything. It's just a dummy.
2) at the end of movie 1 you set a post command to jump to this dummy PGC. As suggested above you can just drag form post of the title to your dummy VMg PGC. Or add the command by double clicking.
3)From the dummy PGC you'll create a command to jump to your second movie. Or just do the dragging thing again.

That's all.

I am still confused, maybe by the terms used.
I currently have VTS-1 as 4:3 and 1 PGC.
VTS-2 as 16:9 and 1 PGC.
I can't seem to add anything to the icon named video manager in the scenerio editor.
I can tell the first play PGC to play VTS-1 PGC-1.
I tried adding a fake PGC to VTS-1, but that hasn't gotten me anywhere.
I can't seem to add anything to the icon named video manager or anything, but a VTS item.

My steps so far have been.

1. When starting Scenerist telling it to create 2 titles
2. Input both audio and video into the data of both videos.
3. Add two tracks of audio and video.
4. Goto Scenreio editor and add video 1 to VTS-1 and Video 2 to VTS-2.

I can't get beyond this point, because I either don't understand what you truly mean by the video manager. I left click on it and only gives me the ability to add a first play PGC or remove it. I don't see any ability to add a second PGC within the icon video manager. The same can be said for the first play PGC icon.
I can add VTS's all day, but I can't get one to talk to another.

I have been very busy so I haven't had much time to try stuff. I appreciate the help, but I fear limited knowledge of what is exactly what is killing me here.

Thanks,
Mark

I see. Thanks so much. I will try it when I get home.
I have to make the money to pay for the discs now.

You have no idea how frustrating it was to see all these people make it seem so easy, and it is if it works, when you have to add one little step that is taken for granted that I know, but I am too new to that part of Scenerist to know. It felt like I was bashing my head against a wall.

Thanks to all of you for your help. I will report back if I get it or should just junk the computer and live in a cabin in the woods with no modern equipment.
