mikewillnot’s SLEEPING BEAUTY Cheat Sheet - Widescreen [Region 1]
Tools I used:
DVD Decrypter 3.1.7.0 in File Mode
IFOedit 0.96
Title Information:
Title 1: VTS_01 contains widescreen movie, VTS_13 the fullscreen version. This method can easily be modified to produce an FS-only version, basically by switching one for the other in step 4.
Results:
Widescreen movie with all menus, plus all extras. Total size: 3.83 gb.
1. Rip all movie files to HD
With DVD-Decrypter, rip all files to a folder such as c:\sleepingbeauty\VIDEO_TS. Also, create another folder, c:\sleepingbeauty stripped
2. Open for editing
With IFOedit, open VIDEO_TS.IFO and press “Get VTS Sectors” buttons to load other IFOs.
3. Backup all IFOs
4. Strip out the unwanted FS version
[NOTE, added later: since writing this, I've discovered 2COOL's excellent guide (HERE (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60533)) to this step, a process that runs way quicker than what I do here. I have no reason at this point to believe it wouldn't work fine, even on Disney films.]
a. Exit IFOedit. Reopen it, opening only VTS_13_0.IFO. Click on VOBextras button.
b. Make sure that ONLY these boxes are checked: Strip VobID’s, Correct VOB-Unit…, Correct original IFO files; Remove P-UOps, Remove Macrovision, Adjust VOB-Unit pointers, Adjust Audio/Subp point. For Destination directory, point to the “stripped” folder you created above. Click OK.
c. On the next screen, check ONLY VobID 9. Click StripIt button.
d. When the strip process is finished, exit IFOedit. Delete VTS_13_*.* from the original VIDEO_TS folder, and move (cut/copy) all files from the “stripped” folder back into the original folder.
e. With IFOedit, open VIDEO_TS.IFO and Get VTS Sectors again
f. (recommended: Backup all IFOs again, to a different subfolder than your original backup.)
[I used this method, stripping out the unwanted version, in order to leave the original structure as intact as possible. I’ve found that with Disney films, they can be quite complex, and simply leaving out a VTS set can create problems that I don’t know how to fix. This method, while slower, always works.]
5. Change FirstPlay to start movie automatically
a. In VIDEO_TS.IFO, in top half of screen select VMGM_MAT, and then FirstPlay PGC.
b. In bottom half of screen, scroll down to PGC Command Table. Right-Click Pre-command #18, and “Insert Command.” A new #18 will be inserted above the original, and the original will be renamed #19.
c. Right-Click on the new Pre-Command #18 and edit, so that the new entry reads (Jump_TT) Jump to Title: 1.
d. Save.
[This is my personal method for modifying PreCommands. I like it because it leaves the original command set intact, and if this mod doesn’t work I can recover easily by deleting the inserted command, and be back to the original.]
6. Modify menus to eliminate Widescreen/Fullscreen menu
In VTS_01_0.IFO / VTS Overview / Menu Language Unit, delete playback on the following. Select and highlight line and press “Delete Playback” button.
Menu 6: [entry only]......(Programs: 1) (Cells: 1) (uses VOB- IDs: 7)7. Delete playback of THX intro
In VTS_12_0.IFO, VTS_PGCITI, PGC_1, in the lower half of the screen scroll down to the Cell Playback table. Double click and edit on the line as follows:
Orig: Cell_1: entry point sector 0
NEW: Cell_1: entry point sector 3382[expl: 3382 is the endpoint sector; changing it so the start point and the end point are the same effectively bypasses the segment.]
8. Delete playback of the Disney DVD Pure Digial intro
In VTS_4_0.IFO, VTS_PGCITI, PGC_1, in the lower half of the screen scroll down to the Cell Playback table. Double click and edit on the line as follows:
Orig: Cell_1: entry point sector 0
NEW: Cell_1: entry point sector 65969. Test & Burn
Test with IFOedit (DVD-Play), PowerDVD, etc. Burn with what works for you. I’ve been having best luck with re-authored filesets lately by converting to an image file with ImgTools and burning with RecordNow Max, although with this method the ImgTools step shouldn’t be necessary.
Lots of credits to 2COOL, from whom I gleaned many an idea used herein.
