Searching a fast way to convert VOB to MPG

Hello!
I have some unencrypted VOBs on my system and want to get MPG conform files out of them as fast as possible!

The best thing would be remultiplexing the VOBs with any program as MPG.
The next interesting would be to transcode it with a system like DVD2ONE uses to get fast the MPG file.
The last interesting solution is normal transcoding it with a fast low quality MPEG-Encoder.

Do you know any nice programs I could use?

1st use dvd decrypter to strip out m2v and ac3 streams.
2nd use ReJig to reduce the size of the m2v to your acceptable range.
3rd mux the for a dvd compliant video.


Works like a charm. The big question is how low a quality are you looking for? I just tested this for a copy of bulletproof monk. Reduced the video to 60% and didn't touch the audio. Ended up with a 1.99 gig file with no artifacts visible. If the size is still too big you could transcode the audio to a smaller bitrate ac3 or even re-encode it as a mp2. I didn't try to go lower on the video; however I did reduce a copy of City Slickers 2 to 42% with no artifacts. This was a low motion movie. I started to get blurring at 41% on the few quick motion scenes. Since I prefer to use original untouched audio the file was a litte larger at 2.2 gig. On a fast motion movie like 2Fast 2Furious you will not be able to get it down that small. Decisions, Decisions.

I don't know if you know VDR (VideoDiskRecorder). My VDR computer has no DVD drive, so I want to read in the VOBs on my maincomputer and copy the files as MPG to the other machine.
Normally I only need to multiplex the MPV with the audiostream, maybe I need to transcode the ac3 with besweet to MP2...

But I also often searched a tool like ReJig, maybe I can fit the VDR recordings to 2 CD's with it...
