Help,

I can successfully split Reloaded DVD into 2 discs with IFOEdit 0.96 however I cannot get menus to work properly on disc 2. When I go into disc 2's SCENE SELECTION the scenes 1-16 on the disc they are actually scenes 21-36 the right scenes for disc 2 but in the wrong place. If I actually click any scene after scene 16 on disc 2 I get scene 21 over and over.

I hope that made sense. Any ideas?

Help! Anyone. I would like to back it up to 2 DVD's for archive purposes. I am not willing to recode it.

My problem seems to be the disc 2 menus after being split by IFOEdit. There has to be a solution.

I already posted how to do this one. Use dvdfab .17.1, copy complete movie. For disc 2, you need to change the precommand to Jump to Title 2.

My apologies Josh. I read your post but it didn't work for me; however I was using DVD Fab 1.00 RC1. I'll try the other version.

Thanks,

Sounds good, np. Yeah, dvdfab lite doesn't allow copy complete movie in the free version, so you need to use the older 17.1. Should work, let me know. :) Worked for me anyway.

I'm sorry Josh. I cannot even get disc 2 to even play with 17.1 even changing Pre-Command to anything.

I must have some other problem. My Matrix Reloaded is NTSC if that matters.

Mine was too. Region 1. I changed the very last precommand to Jump to Title 2. I left the rest alone. But there's no menu on disc 2 with 17.1, just the movie.

It should be precommand #6, Jump to Title 2. I didn't mess with the first 5 precommands. Are you changing it in the videots.ifo, VMGM_MAT, First Play PGC, scroll down to the very bottom, precommand #6, address [0000011c] is the one you're changing?

Hey KeithXP, did you double check that? It should work.

Yes Josh. I tried it. It's not working. I cannot get disc 2 to play no matter how I try. I just get illegal navigation.

I'll keep reading and searching.

Wierd. Maybe my dvd player is a little more relaxed than yours. Only explanation I can think of. Anybody else try splitting that movie the way I posted - copy complete movie with dvdfab 17.1, and changing disc 2 to Jump to Title 2?

I solved it!!! Ha! Man, this as tricky.

Here's how you do it, pay very close attention. Split the disc w/ chapter 19 starting on disc 2 using IfoEdit.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
1) On disc 2, go into VTS_01_0.IFO -> VTS_PGCITI ->VTS_PGC_1

2) This didn't work - I tried adding chapters to the beginning of the 'PGC Program Map' of this file on the advice of a thread in this forum (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=35660), no luck.

3) I noticed GPreg<13> corresponds to the chapter number you select...in other words, if you select to go to chapter 20 on disc 2, GPreg<13> will equal 20.

4) In the 'PGC Command Table' of this file, Precommands 32 through 66 are dedicated to setting GPreg<13>!!! This is hugely important. Note the cell id's for chapters 19-36. Now go to VTS_01_0.IFO...notice chapter 19 starts at cell 1. According to the existing 'PGC Command Table', chapter 19 starts at cell 19. Chapter 19 should start at cell 1. Fixing this solves the problem.

5) To fix, start at:
Precommand 49: If GPreg<13>==<cmp-val>19 then (LinkCN)Link Cell 19

We want this to say:
Precommand 49: If GPreg<13>==<cmp-val>19 then (LinkCN)Link Cell 1

6) To do this, double click on the line and edit this value in hex.

The old value should say:
20 A7 00 0D 00 13 00 13

The last 2 digits control what cell you link to , so change this value to:
20 A7 00 0D 00 13 00 01

7) Do this for each subsequent precommand after precommand #49 till you hit the end. Be careful - a cell is skipped at precommand #51!!Chapter 21 is actually linked to cell 4, not cell 3
8) In case you don't know hex, here is a mapping of numerics to hex:
1 maps to hex value 01, 2 maps to hex value 02.... 9 maps to 09, 10 maps to 0A, 11 maps to 0B...., 12 maps to 0C..15 maps to 0F, 16 maps to 10, 17 maps to 11...

9) My last command reads (in hex)
20 A7 00 0D 00 24 00 13

The last 2 digits '13' represent the hex notation for numeric 19, the cell # pointed to by our last chapter!

10) Copy the VTS_02_*.VOB and VTS_02_*.IFO files to the second disc folder (this is the dvd menus).

11) Change the VIDEO_TS.IFO->VMGM.MAT->First play PGC
Edit Precommand to Jump to title 1.
Good luck and let me know if this works for you!

Scotts22, did you try it the way I suggested?

Yep - no luck.

How frustrating! I wonder why it's working for me and no one else! :angry:

Perhaps it's because I used IfoEdit and you used DVDFab? I've never used DVDFab. Maybe DVDFab handles which cells the chapters point to on the second disc automatically?

If anything else - looks like we have 2 methods of backing up this disc!

Now I can let my nephews play my backup when they come over without scratching Neo and friends.
