Hi all,
Once I have used DoCCE4U and encoded successfully I go back to the still open ReAuthorist and push 'Author It!'. ReAuthrosit then says that it has created an 'ecl' and 'SCP' file for me. Yet when I look in the directory it states these as being in, I only find the 'ecl' file and no 'SCP' file. I have run search on my PC and no 'SCP extension' file is located, I am sure one is not created.

I follow the DVD backup guide;
- using Scenarist NT & the big 3 (DoItFast4U, DoCCE4U & ReAuthorist) - last updated 05/28/03

I have gathered all the neccessary software it says I will need, and have followed the guide perfectly without any problems until now.

This is my first full DVD back up attempt although I am good with partial back ups and divX copies.
I would be very grateful for any help.
Many thanks, Cri

That is a rather weird error. I would suggest closing out RA. Open it again, choose your rip folder, make any necessary changes to the project and hit the "Author It" button again.

This is the first time I have ever seen that error before. I hope that works for you.

thanks but no that didn't help. I have tried re-installing all programs, even blanking my PC and doing a fresh re-install. I still don't get any SCP file. I just don't understand why I don't have one created. Is there anything that would warrant this? I got ReAuthorist from this site. Don't get why it doesn't work. I push author it AFTER running it through CCE right?

That is exceedingly odd. I doubt I can help, but more info can't hurt. Maybe it'll spark an idea.

I believe you can press the Author It button at any time. I typically press it both before and after CCE encoding. I click it before encoding just in case the power goes out in the wee hours of the morning.

The SCP file is nothing more than a (rather large) text file with an scp extension. I can think of no reason why the file would disappear after being created, or any reason why it wouldn't be created in the first place.

Could it be something simple like hiding extensions for files with known types? Perhaps the file is there but the scp extension is hidden because some program has an association for it.

ok finally found the SCP!!! Thankyou to both of you for helping me. The file extension SCP was hidden unlike the ECL which was clearly marked. With the SCP file extension hidden, the SCP file just blended into all the other notepad docs that had been created. I couldn't distinguish it as this was my first full back up attempt.

For anyone with the same problem, I fixed this by going to:

'Folder options>file extensions' Then selecting the SCP extension, clicking 'advanced' and then forcing the extension to show by checking the check box.

Many thanks
