SONIC my DVD 4.0 pauses between button chapters

When i playback a dvd of my vacation on my standalone dvd player all the menus work, but at every button chapter change the picture freezes and pauses before playback continues when i play the dvd from start to finish. how can i make these chapters playback seamlessly?

each chapter is represented by a button and can be played individually with no problem the pauses come when i play the whole dvd,and occur at each chapter change.

How many VTS have you got in the output - one for each chapter ?
How did you set the chapter points?

when i import movie files sonic my dvd 4.0 creates a chapter button for each file.

I know it creates a button but a chapter- I think not - it creates a VTS = Video Title Set.
Now that can cause an upset in the continuity.
If you want smooth playback you should use a program thats puts your clips together first into one file and can add chapter points too.
