When I make backups of my DVD's I just copy the movie without menus or anything else. As a result I just pop in the DVD and it just plays the movie the way I like it.

The problem is that when I tried to backup Identity I only wanted the movie with wide screen extended version. But chapter 7 always jumps around when I do this (made about different 4 backups on different media with the same result and starting from scratch everytime). (The scene when they are walking to their rooms for the first time.) I know that both the extended and theatrical are on the same vob according to 2cool.

I also tried this. The problem is that it is not there since I only want the wide screen extended version without menus. Also I am using VTS_04_0.IFO for the wide screen edition.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
9. Extended Version Only

Go to VTS_05_0.IFO / VTSM_PGCI_UT / PGC-Menu_5 / PGC Command Table. Hexedit Pre Command 52 as follows. Double left click on line to to bring up HexEdit Module. Hexedit with new value below and press OK.

OLD > 52.Pre Command...(LinkPGN) Link Program 5, [button=1].................[20 06 00 00 00 00 04 05]
NEW > 52.Pre Command...Set GPreg<0> add (set-val)<2>(LinkPGCN) Link PGC 5...[73 04 00 00 00 02 00 05]

Note: Your new command is actually your menu button’s command

When I make a backup of the whole movie with menus and all, it plays fine but the quality is really bad since it needs to be compressed to fit on a dvd.

Sofware Used:
dvd decrypter
ifo edit 95

I am wondering if anyone has run into this and how they fixed it. I just want the movie in wide screen extended version only. If I have to I will put the menus in, but I like to just put the movie in and let it play. Thanks in advance.

Its been awhile since I backed up this movie but from what I remember I just deleted the full screen version and replaced it with blank vobs and disabled the full screen menu option with menuedit. It backed up on to 1 dvd after I did this.

You could probably edit the video_vts ifo to jump to the extended version menu and go from there but I haven't played with this option since I like to keep my backups as intact as possible.

This DVD has multiple angles of the same scene. Since you ripped just what you wanted and most likely created new ifo's you have to open IFO 0 with IFOEDIT look for the VOB ID's for the angles you have to dump, they have the same start times and similar lengths, they each will have different VOB ID numbers. Then under VOB EXTRA's strip out those ID's for the different angles and you should be good to go.
