Hi,

I have a little problem... I create my dvd backup with Scenarist, I make menus, no problem and I create the demux for get the vts... After backup, when I see the DVD on my PC, it's a perfect backup but when I want to see it on my TV, I see THE problem... Titles of menus are here, but the selection (subpicture with colors and buttons) is under the title... So, for example, it is write PLAY and the point wich must appear at the bottom of the button is in the bottom of the screen... Maybe it's a problem with a 4:3 or 16:9 menu but I don't know how I can resolve this problem...
Scenarist use allready 16:9 picture for menu, Never He wants to use 4:3... So I think it's a problem under the video of the menu (4:3) and the subpicture (16:9)...
Maybe do you know a software like Subrip wich can to extract subpicture AND to choose the resolution of it...
I don't know if you understand me, I'm French ;)
Please help...
Thks

MENU <------ Button is here

----- <------ selection is here (bad no ? :'( )

Did you check this in the simulation window before compiling? And if so, was it okay then or not? Were you making a 16:9 project? For 16:9 projects you have to make both subpictures, one for letterbox the other for normal view. Just resize the normal 720x480 to 720x360 and then add the borders to the top and bottom, making it 720x480 again. Then in the track editor when adding the subpic click the W to the left for the normal view and on the other click the L for the letterboxed subpic and that should be it. Then when making the buttons don't forget to change the views for each display or the letterbox subpic won't line up correctly.

hi,

First, in the simulation window, all is perfect. I make a 16:9 project but the menu is in 4:3 and Scenarist use 16:9 subpicture...
I didn't know I owed two subpictures... I will try it and if I have a problem I will ask you in this topic.
Thanks you very much

So I have a second problem,

The dvd which I try to make a backup is "LOTR: The Two Towers"... But the menu is very too hard for me... I try to demux by Vob ID but the result is all the chapter in one vob... So I have two choice:
- I demux by Cell Id but the result is lot of Vob files of 160Kb
- I find a solution to get time of chapters into the vob because there are 10 pages of chapters (approximative 30 chapters)...
So I don't know how get chapters without ChapterXChapter (this software can get only chapters in pgc but no in menus)...

I have an another problem... When I launch the dvd, the menu in PowerDVD is in ratio 16:9 and when I demux the vob on my HDD, the original ratio is 4:3... So how I can, always in Scenarist, launch my dvd in 16:9 ratio with 4:3 ratio vob...

If you don't understand, I can try to explain better but I'm french ;)

Sounds like your menu might be the 4:3 pan and scan type.To check if it is,highlight you menu m2v file in the data window and see if it says 4:3 panscan in the property browser. If it is you will need to remake a subpicture for the pan scan higlights. This is a good guide for doing this. http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45870&highlight=guide+widescreen+menus

I still had problems with this until i read another post(which i can't seem to find now) that said not to drag the subpicture into the track window to make the sub layer but,add a subpicture from the icons at the top and drag the picture into that.Seems kinda strange that this should make a difference but it does.

When getting the subpicture with subrip it seems to have givin me only 16x9highlights.There might be an easier way to do this in ifoedit.I tried it but i'm not a good ifoeditor,so it didn't work out.

Maybe the menu is in 4:3 Pan & Scan but Bitrate Viewer say that:
Num. of picture read: 1372
Stream type: MPEG-2 MP@ML CBR
Resolution: 720*576
Aspect ratio: 4:3 Generic
Framerate: 25.00
It don't say it is a Pan & Scan ratio and for transform my menu vob in m2v, I must encode them and I must know the true resolution of it...
It's very difficult but I think when I will have answers of all my questions, It will be more too easy ;)

I only speak english, and not that well, and i think i'm starting to lose you in the translation a little.
Most commercial dvds in ntsc land that have a 4:3 menu that are realy 4:3 panscan. You could open your VTS_xx_0.vob menu with something like vobrator and demux it.Then bring it into scenarist and see what it sees it as.

Why not just use an all-in-one program such as CloneDVD? I copied a DVD perfectly using it.
