OK, I'm new here so I'll try to follow all the rules. I've read all the guides, FAQs and instructions on this site that I could find, but nothing seemed to fix my problems. Hopefully these aren't questions that you get too frequently. If they are, I'm sorry in advance :o :o :o
(#1) Okay, so I just got Head of State on DVD, and I wanted to try backing it up. My standalone DVD player only supports VCD's so that is what I've been trying to make. So I ripped it using DVD2SVCD's internal routines. Then in the Bitrate tab, I set everything to use only one CD. I unchecked the minimum ave bitrate checkbox, and (because of something I read here), I set the minimum bitrate to 50. But when it finished, I ended up with two CD images, the second one being only like 250 megs. I'm using TMPGEnc-2.520.54.163 and DVD2SVCD 1.2.1 build 1

(#2) Also, in the past, I have captured video episodes of some of my favorite TV shows and encoded them in various formats (most of them are DivX 3). I can usually get about 8 or so of the episodes onto a CD. But recently I decided that I wanted to make VCD's of them to watch on my dvd player. So I tried converting them to MPEG-1 files using both TMPGEnc and DVD2SVCD using the AVI input mode. In both cases, the output files tend to be huge in comparison to the files I'm starting out with. The output files seem to be over twice the size as the input files. Is this just because MPEG-1 compression is worse than DivX3? In theory, shouldn't I be able to get MPG's that are the same size as the AVI's? How would I do that (if it's possible)?
Sorry about my lack of knowledge about all this. Thank you all for taking time out of your day to try to help me. I really appreciate it... btw, DVD2SVCD ROCKS! I used it on my old computer to make a couple of SVCD's which work *perfecty*!
