why doesn't avi2dvd like IMA ADPCM?

I'm trying to make dvd-compatible file. After loading the AVI, I got this error message "Audioformat not supported. Only AC3, MP3, MP2 and PCM is supported!" I then checked the audio with AVIcodec and got "Audio: 7.57Mb, 88Kbps, 22050 Hz, 1 chan., 0x11 = IMA ADPCM, Supported" Isn't this a kind of PCM?

Anyway, I can't find anything on the forums, so, can anyone help at all?

1> Open avi in VDub and verify plays in sync.
2> In Video select Direct Stream Copy
3> In Audio:
--a> Select Full Processing Mode
--b> Select Compression><No compression (PCM)>
--c> Select Conversion and make sure 48k/16bit, Check High Quality
--d> Boost volume if you need to
4> Save new Avi off to HD (PCM audio will make it much bigger so make sure you have the HD space).
5> Load saved avi back into VDub and play. Check if audio is in sync. If so goto next (6), if not stop and go to interleaving tab in audio and try to make adjustments in the delay section until in sync and then re-save as in (4)
6> Encode this new Avi as normal in Avi2SVCD.

ADPCM, Supported" Isn't this a kind of PCM?
More or less. In very simple words, it works with differences between PCM samples (Adaptative Differential Pulse Coded Modulation). It is an old code used in transmission systems (ITU-T recs), not so difficult to build using only HW.
