doe anyone have this problem?? i still can't seem to pewview the avs script within gk. I can load up the avs script in gk, and in vdubmod with no problems, but i can't see any thing while previewing it it acts like it wants to, loads up MPC and just nothing comes out.

I've tried to poke around the registry settings to see if that could be the problem, but I'm not sure where its reading it from. I just insatlled the .6 package and still nothing. Let me know if you have this problem or know what i'm doing arong and tell me and then point and laugh at me =P lol

anyways later

Do you mean that WMP is not even started or it's started but doesn't show anything? Cna you open avs file with it all (outside of GK)? If not, then pretty much nothing we can do about it...

i can open it from within vdubmod with no problems, i get the size I want the video to be and everything when i hit prewivew in the main program. Just shows a black screen. before I upgraded to .3 I could view them with no problems. must be something i did when i added that exeonly file to update my gk.

Let me know

Also I'm haveing a besweet encoding error, when it goes to finialze it errors out everytime, i've remade the audio files with all 3 dvd2avi's and i still get the same problem. it will encode the audio to the end, then go to add the gain and stuff.. then poof down goes the program with a error message, makes the audio file unusable. this is useing ogg 0.3 setting.

The only thing I can suggest is to delete registry keys for GK and do clean install of 0.28.6. Although I'm not really sure that would help. May be you did install something else when you upgraded to .5.3 ?

is this your problem ?:

Did you use besweet which came from 0.28.6 RipPack ?

yes I used the besweet that came with the .6 package.. I'm currently reading through the link you posted to see if that's the same problem I'm haveing I'll paste what I get in the log window and what errors I get when it happends. then I'll just uninstall everything and reinstall the .6 rippack and see if that fixes any of my problems.

I'll post again when I have done all of this.

well I looked at the thread... Yes that is the very same problem I'm haveing. Also I've uninstalled and all that fun stuff, then reinstalled the 0.28.6rippack, an i still have the very same problem, I can view the avs file from like vdubmod and stuff just fine but when I hit preview i get a black screen and the size of how the encode is supose to be, and then it doesn't play anything just stays on the stop button. I'll see if there is a fix for that besweet and use i was useing 1.5b22, I've also made a screen shot of what happends. If you want me to post it let me know

I didn't say that rippack contains correct version of BeSweet. In fact it does not! I just wanted to check if it's the same problem. If you read that thread carefully then you would know that beta 22 of besweet was available in two states: original and fixed (I wish it was renamed a bit). So i'll be issueing an update for GK. In the meantime - just redownload besweet and everythng should be fine.

That's test version which is not stable enough to include it with GK. Version of 17th of September was made for my request :)

well i really wasn't saying that it did have a correct verison of besweet. I could tell by reading it that yes it was the same problem i have, and I was just posting that yes I have that version. I've just downloaded the .6.1 patch and runing it now. Though I'm still haveing previewing problems. I can load up the avs script in vdubmod and view it that way. Maybe i do need to just delte the reg keys, and then reinstall the .6rippack then the update again. See if that works

okay reinstalled everything. sorry its been awhile.. but i still can't view the avs after clicking on the preview button, but i did find out, if I used like the vcd option and no filters i can kinda get a view off it. other than that I can't view nothing. it loads up like it wants to play but then just doesn't.. Is there a new version of avs this uses like 2.5.2 or something ?

Okay Found out some intresting things. First if I wanted to preview the avs i have to unselect "selected res" and choose VCD or SVCD, i'v install the 2.5.3 avisynth and i still can't view them without going into a different setting like in gknot. so maybe its a bug somewhere in the program or maybe its about time to reformat and start over and see if that fixes it. with this said i think its something somewhere. Let me know

One more suggestion, Xndo ... take one of these .avs scripts that doesn't work, and post it here. You can eliminate any line beginning with "#" for clarity, as those are comment lines.

[Edit: The reason is because there going on with your version of MPEG2DECx.dll, or some other insight may come out of reviewing the script.]

I've got the same preview.avs problem, too. I try and preview the settings and WMV 6.4 comes up, correct (re-)size, but just sits at a black screen with the stop button pressed.

I played around with remarking paramaters in the preview.avs file and trying to preview again and it looks like as long as there was no cropping occuring ie. crop(0,0,720,480)] and no resizing (I just remarked the resize line out) WMV6.4 would let the preview run (even with de-interlace and noise filters). The avs file runs in VDubMod v1.5.10.1.

Do any type of cropping and/or try to do a resize and it's just a black window in WMV6.4 with the stop button depressed.

Its happened on an XP fresh install and SP1 updated. Searched the registry for avisynth and gk entries to make sure it was clean, reinstalled gk again and it still happens (at least to all of the listed versions below). But it's fine on my other PC.

Software:

GK 0.28.6, 0.28.6.2, 0.28.7, 0.28.7.2 (currently installed)
mpeg3dec3.dll v1.0.1.0
avisynth 2.5

Source: NTSC TV recorded to DVD VDR (Video Disc Recorder or whatever they're called). Ripped VOB files to HD and DVD2AVIdg .d2v file)

Here's a copy of the Preview.avs file (minus the extra lines) that dies:

I just ran your script through my laptop (I'm stuck in a hotel at the moment without DVDs. The only change I made, therefore, was that I replaced the mpeg2source line with:

colorbars(720,480).trim(0,99).converttoyv12() # to create a 100 frame sample video. And I also ran it at 720,576 just in case. :-)

Gknot comes currently with AviSynth 2.53, you mentioned you're using 2.5. Perhaps that's the trouble?

Oops... my bad... a typo. It's Avisynth 2.53 (just straight from the GK 0.28.7 install. But it also happens with the .6 and .6.2 version which uses an earlier version of AviSynth, iirc.

It's strange... everything else looks to work (encodes are great, cropped, resized, etc). Preview works on my other XP box. The same version of WMV 6.4.??.???? (forget the last parts, but I did check to see that they were the same version) which is running 0.28.6 or .7 (not quite sure, I'm at work right now).

I'm thinking to try and re-install XP again (want to make sure it's totalllllllly clean and just try gk from there). Could this be a video driver issue with WMV trying to play the avs script? (sorry if it's a stupid question... I'm new to all of this)

Question.... is there some way to tell/make GK use a different program to run the preview.avs file?

It looks like it runs WMP v6.4.09.1128 (from the \progfiles\WMP folder). I also find a WMP v6.4.09.1125 version in \windows\servicepackfiles\i386, but it's the same file as the .1128 version... and it's way too small to be the player, so it must be calling a function from wmplayer (or somesuch) to run in classic fomat (just a guess). Both get the black screen of nothing.

Anyway, I dowloaded the WMP v6.4.7.4 and it plays the avs file fine (at least it seems to when I run it by itself). So if I could get GK to run the 6.4.7.4 player thing's would probably be okay (and yeah, it'd be a workaround and not a fix).

And just for clarification... it only doesn't play in the standard WMP if there's cropping and/or resizing of any kind (ie. Bicubic, Lanczos, etc). Otherwise it works.. and my other PC (with GK 28.6) doesn't have this problem. This PC does with both 28.6 through 28.7.2.

Thanks!
