Hi,
i tried to store DivX audio in matroska with mkvtoolnix. I got an error message: unknown audio format.
Memax posted the same problem in the newbie section:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=58258&highlight=matroska+divx+audio but none answered it.
Will this be supported in the future? (I recall it doesnt make sense to try to compress it with a different audio codec).

I've never got DivX ;) Audio (WMA) to work in .avi, .wav.
I would recommend using a better supported audio compression, such as Vorbis, AAC, or VBR MP3.

Huh? I've used divx audio since (nonvampire) CD-R media was 3 DM ($1,50) for one disc in AVI...and not long ago, I tried to store divx audio in Matroska using AVI-Mux GUI, and it worked (even though it sounds crappy even in my ears) :p

Did you actually install that codec? If it isn't installed it could result in such problems - else, as alexnoe suggested, try Avi-Mux GUI to convert the movie to mkv.

Even if the codec is not installed, the muxer should not report a 'unknown format' error. All information it needs for proper muxing is in the header. Unlike AC3 and DTS, the headers of divx audio in AVIs or WAVs are not hacked.

There's a direct show muxer for matroska (written by Gabest). I've seen directshow do many weird things, so there you could still rely on the installation of the codec.
netterpaladin,
Maybe you should try graphedit and manual rendering/multiplexing of the files to that dshow muxer of gabest (find it at his guliverkli-sf.net site). Different muxing application/system can produce different results.
Did you check if the streams are uncorrupted?
