ok I chose to have one stream of subbies on my svcd, but when I play the disc(s) in my dvd player, they don't display on the tv screen.

By accident I discovered how to get them on. I pressed PAUSE, then ZOOM (2x), ZOOM (4x), ZOOM (8x), ZOOM (off), and they appeared.

huh?

I am pretty sure I used the 2nd most current version of dvd2svcd to create this svcd with the problem. I will check when I get home.

SVCD subs cause lots of people lots of problems.

Most DVD players just aren't keen on the idea of SVCD's having subtitles.

Use permanent subs, that way they are written onto the video stream and you won't have to wear out the zoom button.

chet, did you try both sub options, i.e. cvd and svcd? Some players prefer one over the other. If you have access to I-Author, try its subtitle option as well.

If selectable subs are a must for you, consider migrating over to dvd-r - the hardware is getting cheaper every day, and the subtitle implementation is significantly more robust in standalone players.
