Hello everyone !

I've tried to find the info I need, but I couldn't :(
I'm sure it's there though

What I want to do is simple : I have a French music DVD and I want to add English subtitles to it.

Now I already know what kind of software I can use to add the subtitles (but suggestions are still welcome).

What I DON'T know is how (and with what) I should extract lossless files from the vob files on my hard disk.

I have a feeling I can do it without decoding and re-coding to whatever DivX format which (correct me if I'm wrong) will take longer and inevitably make me lose quality compared to the original files.

Can anyone help me there ?

Thanks in advance ! :D

Use the "demux" feature in vobedit to extract all or certain streams from a vob.

Encode your subs to sup format using srt2sup or the dvdsuptools. Use the ifoedit "dvd author" function to put everything back together.

There is a sticky thread in the subtitles forum discussing how to do this.
