wat up dudes? greetings from australia.

my problem is as follows:

i have a divX .avi (over 2 cd's) video that has an .ac3 soundtrack.

i want to put it onto 1 cd. firstly i joined the 2 .avi files into 1.

i then extracted a .wav file using nandub and created a .mp3 using besweet.

should i just use the original .avi as the input to gordian knot and re-encode it to get the new .avi?? or is there a way to extract the video from the original .avi and make a .d2v file or something??

sorry if it is a dumb question.

thanks

hi and welcome to the forum...

first of, i got to say that i wouldn't recommend to recompress an already compressed divX movie. the quality loss will be quite high and there's quite some issues you might have to deal with....

one of the biggest problems you'll most likely have, is to get the audio syced again after joining and reencoding...

that said, yes you should join the two avis and then feed them to gordianknot (or vdub).

and no it is not possible to create a d2v file, as dvd2avi can only deal with mpeg2 video, whereas you are dealing with divx files, which are mpeg4

Also, if you have to do 1cd-rips/conversion, better get rid of ac3 audio, it simply takes too much bitrate in relation to the video.
