I am very anal about my video quality. I notice that the default image quality priority is set to 17 on cce. How would I make it better and how high or low could I go to see a quality improvement. I usually use cce when my movies require 5.5 gigs to back up.

This only relates to how the available bitrate is used, not overall quality. The lower the number the more bitrate is used on moving complicated stuff, the higher the number, more bits go to background stuff.

Smart people decided on 17 for SVCD (I like 22-24), so don't be in a rush to change it. I think it's more about balancing different types of artifacts/noise.

There are mountains of info. on CCE settings in guides, Q&A stickies etc., .........use the search button and read read read.

the priority setting sets more bits to the complex areas (lower numbers) and higher numbers set the bits more toward the flat areas. generally for dvd lower values can be used. i used to use 5 for svcd but the results were disapointing.. 17 is good for svcd bitrate (some say as high is 32) for dvd bitrates, 5 is good.

p.s. ralph beat me to the punch</add>

Never let the eight foot tall fictional character land the first punch......seems sensible!!!
