Hi,
I have multiple vob's (each is a song).

1) I would like to create a menu to jump to any of them.
2) When playing I would like them to play one after the other like sequential chapters.
3) Obviously I would like to go to the next song by clicking on the next chapter button and the previous song by clicking on the previous chapter button on the remote
4) I would NOT like to demux the songs (I like the fact that the video and the sound are in one file)

What is the best software/process to achieve this ?
What is the best way to do this if I demux all the vobs ?

My current solution does all of the above EXCEPT for navigating to the previous chapter functionality.

My current process is:
I am using DVD-lab to import vob's as assets without de-muxing
In dvd-lab, create multiple movies. Assign each vob asset to a movie
Create menu buttons and assign them to a movie.
In dvd lab change the menu button navigation links to move to the next button upon return
Create a chapter point in each movie at the very end. This will allow us to click the next button and cause a jump to the next song.

I donot know how to get the previous button to work.
Any ideas on how to get this done in DVD-lab ?

Personally I would demux the vob (for example with vobedit) and import the assets into scenarist. Create a seperate track for every song there.

Put them all into a PGC as a chapter. This way you can navigate through them (back and forth).

For single song slection you can either use a chapter selection menu. Or put the songs in an pgc of their own.

It maybe better to merge all songs into one VOB and then assign chapter markers in DVDLab - that way your chapter buttons will work - the menu is then the Scene Selection.

VobEdit - join clips

(They must be of the same source)

Maestro has a specific feature to do this. I forgot what it is called but I think it works by assigning conditional end actions. so if the chapter play was initiated from a menu choice then after it plays it goes back to the menu. Or if you choose play all, then the end action just continues from one chapter to the next.

I saw a guide for this somewhere, it may even be on this site.

You may be confusing two issues here;
the Play All guide is for clips which go in to the movie windows and thus create seperate PGCs. You can't navigate with the chapter button unless the clips are actually chapters in One PGC (although by adding a chapter point at the end of a movie you can jump to the NEXT PGC only).
So if you want the DVD navigation via chapter Buttons on the Remote you can't return to menu after a clip - the DVD just continues play.
I know - its all very confusing

that's true. You can select the chapter from the menu but the it will continue from there. That's why I said or put them in a seperate PGC per song.

Thx a lot for responding.

What I do want is for the songs to continue playing...

Let me explain.
Let us say i select the 5th song from the menu. I would like the next song to play after the 5th songs is done and continue there on.
At the same time I would like to move to the 4th song at any time by clicking on the previous chapter buttons on the remote.

Is there a way to do this in ifoedit ?
Is there some pre-command or post-command which I can set to set the jump point when the previous chapter button is pressed ?

Another problems with using vobedit to join the vob clips..
Since the DVD will take more than 4GB how do I join the VOB's and get a file greater than 4 gb ?

Pre and post commands are used for PGC naviagtion not chapters. It's quite normal that you can go back and forth between chapters.

VOBs should be split at 1 Giga, DVDLab will take care of that if the input is too big, maybe VOBedit will split them anyway.
Use Vobedit to join all your clips together, Use this directly in DVDLab as ONE movie. If your Vobedit output is split to 1 Giga VTS then choose the option Join Vobs when importing (use the latest Beta). Set your chapter points and burn to a DVDRW.
