What speed should I use to copy a video CD?

My friend made a video and copied it to a regular CD (VCD). I borrowed it from him so I can make a copy of it for myself.

Basically it will be a 'copy cd to blank cd'. Will it be okay if I use 48x speed during the copy process? Or do I need to use the slowest speed eg. 4x?

You can probably rip it at any speed you want, as long as the original is in okay condition.

For maximum compatibility with stand-alone players, it's been widely recommended to burn at 4x.

There is no error checking involved for a mode 2 cd (vcd) i would go for 2X its not too much longer , but then again , i normally burn @ 10x and its ok :P, but if its something like a home movie that you really want to keep etc , then better safe then sorry go for 1x/2x.
