View Full Version : Nero DVD burning with Command Line

I was going over Nerocmd's list of options to try to find a way to launch Nero so that it automatically selects the folder with my Shrinked files, and creates a task, automatically running the wizard for DVD_Video burning and placing all the files from my specificed folder into it's Video_TS folder.

If I could figure out the command line switch to do this, then I could create a short-cut to be launched by a hot-key combo (Ctrl-Alt-N or something). That way, when you are in DVDShrink, and it's just completed it's transcoding, you just press the hot-key combo, and Nero is launched, selecting all the files in the pre-specified folder. Btw, I like to preview my backups before burning, so I don't need those fully automated programs. Just want to save the hassle of having to manually launch Nero, select DVD Video, then manually drag all the files into its VIDEO_TS folder.

All I see of Nerocmd's options are to burn an iso/audio/video CD, image, superVCD. But no specific listing for a DVD video. I also see an option to reallocate the files in a VIDEO_TS folder with the command 'dvdvideo_realloc' - whatever that means. I still use 5.5.10 and have no plans to upgrade to 6.

I'm sure the option must be there. Anyone know what the syntax should be to use Nerocmd to be launched this way? Would make it almost like a one-click option to burn within DVDShrink! Thanks.

autoshrink already does this

From what I understand of Autoshrink, it automates everything. But that's not what I want.

I want to run Shrink and manipulate things manually. Then I want to be able to preview the files with WinDVD before I burn them.

Which is why it would be great to create a short key to Nero, so I can run Nero (either from Shrink or WinDVD or any other program) and have it automatically create Audio and Video folders and automatically place the files in my shrink folder into the VIDEO_TS.

I would think using nerocmd would do the trick....I'd rather not have to install another piece of software, but can ImgTools be run the way I've described above?

Edit: Well it looks like if there is no way to commandline Nerocmd, then ImgTools seems to do what I want...you can run it with a commandline and have it point at a directory where the files are. Would be better to just use Nerocmd so I don't have to install more software. Anyone use Nerocmd?

ok if this is about saving you the hassle. What's so hard about opening windows explorer and right clicking on the folder which has the dvdshrink output video folders and choosing Burn with Imgtool. I do it all the time.

I was initially trying to do exactly what ImgTool does, but with Nero's included Nerocmd (which does not seem to have the DVD burning option I guess).

I've actually just installed ImgTool, and I am impressed. Never really thought much about this software before because I figured...why use a fronting program for Nero when it's easy enough to do with Nero alone? Well...I've gotten lazy and ImgTool's exactly what I was looking for.

(I think you meant to point me to ImgTools and not Autoshrink initially right MrBass? Thanks for the tip).

FYI I created a shortcut to the ImgTools program, and created a short key to activate it (Ctrl-Alt I). I included the commandline switches to have it automatically go to my default shrink video folders. So now I just press Ctrl-Alt I in whatever program I am, and it launches ImgTools with all settings set. Perfect!
