If I have Decimate(cycle=5,quality=3) and in an override file I force it to decimate frame 3, will decimate kill 2 frames in the cycle of 5 or will the forced decimation of frame 3 fulfill the '1 in every 5 frames' cycle?

Here's another way of saying it..

If I use Decimate(cycle=5,quality=3) on a 5 frame clip and then in an override file I force frame 3 to be decimated, will I be left with 4 frames or 3?

Now that I've worded it that way.. the best solution is to go try this myself on a 5 frame trim.. lol

Anyways, what do you guys think?

It will still always decimate 1 frame per cycle. The override just forces it to decimate the specified frame.

@neuron2

Would it be possible to add something like that to the functionality of DECIMATE?

If you set a certain mode you can run decimate to kill frames but it won't kill any frames on its own or to do what I was asking about in the first post where a forced decimate is considered part of the cycle count.

All things are possible! But in the absence of a described application, you are going to have trouble motivating me.

Perhaps MultiDecimate() is closer to what you want, if you are seeking N-in-M or arbitrary decimation.
