thank goodness...we can live in peace now.
Anyway what is this 321 Live all about? Anyone know

2. Why are some of the options disabled in the settings screen? Could some of these be for 321 Live when you are ready? What is your best-guess time frame for 321 Live?

Yes, some options are disabled because of 321 Live and planned upgrades within a very short period of time. 321 Live should be completely functional by the end of the year, but you will see several version upgrades to Platinum in the next week, month and before the end of the year. I would not be surprised if Platinum is six versions removed by Christmas. And that is because we have just recently (right after the conference) released the development process to a new team that are much better than the old team. I didn't fire the old team, but they have now been reassigned because of the Platinum issues. The good news is in the end you will get a much better product because of it.

3. Have you considered aquiring DVD Shrink [or other software] and adding a burn engine and express? It seems it may have saved quite a bit of development time.

Actually, I believe our technology is better. It is our implementation that sucks right now. You should withhold judgment on this for a few more weeks. What's coming new in Platinum and 321 Live will make these problems a distant memory, I can promise. The new technology we are about to release gives me shivers, and I'm hard to impress.

Keep the faith, these are growing pains.

Cheers!

I believe it's a forum for users of 321 software, so they can swap compression settings. I think that's what the tdf files are. I could also be completely wrong, but I asked in another forum what tdf files were and that's the answer I got.

Doesnt seem to take much to make Bob shiver.

Platinum was a real letdown. Maybe it will get better but I still dont see it being any better than DVDShrink or InstantCopy. There is only so much you can do with a transcoder and those two are already feature packed. The ultimate will probably be a transcoder that lets you delete parts of the movie down to the level MackenX's new tool does.

From 321 Studio Forum:
Imagine being able to get rid of the FBI screens, customizing your backup disclaimer, removing all promotional material and more. Parents will be able to create TDF files that will remove bad language and offensive scenes in their backups. The world of TDF is going to be very exciting. It will truly be DVD RE-Authoring for your own Hollywood DVD Movies. And you'll be able to create and share these TDF's through our peer-to-peer 321 Live application.
@Richk50
Tdf files have nothing to do with compression settings.
Tdf files (a type of plugin) only try to fix bad dvd authoring, such as wrong or mixed up title-sets and or missing audio files.

From 321 Studio Forum:
What is a TDF File?
TDF stands for “Title Definition Format”. TDF files contain setup instructions that tell DVDXCopy Xpress/Platinum how back up a DVD movie. TDF files for DVDXCopy Xpress/Platinum are intended to be used only to fix incorrect titleset selections made by DVDXCopy Xpress/Platinum and DVD authoring problems inherent in some DVD movies.

How do I know if I need a TDF file?
A TDF file will not fix a backup that fails to complete. TDF files do not correct driver problems or bugs that may exist in the application. However, if you successfully create a backup but the backup has the incorrect titleset, audio language, video format, or subtitle on it, it is likely that a TDF file will fix the problem.

How do I get TDF files?
If you think you need a TDF file, you can search for it in the “XPRESS TDF Files” thread. If you can not locate a TDF file you think you need, you can make a request for one in this thread. If you make a request to have a TDF file created, please be sure to specify the exact movie title and the problem you are experiencing. A new thread should be created inside this thread for each movie for which a TDF File was requested.

To me Platinum is a failure.....!

That development team shuffle is interesting also. Note this quote was from Sep 8, 2003.

Elaborate Byte's CloneDVD update (v1.3.9.8) (http://www.cdfreaks.com/news/8137) is suppose to do just that.

menu mode: deselected titles will be removed completely (no more grey screens)

Note to self: check out MackemX's new tool. :)

recode can replace titles with a still image.. that's as good as removing without taking any risk on messing up the disc structure. And guess who made Recode's engine... if you look at both programs for a sec it becomes pretty apparent.

"And guess who made Recode's engine..."
BMW? Mercedes?

What's the price for guessing anyway? :)
