I can't seem to get an answer on the burning forum. Maybe you guys on here can help. I can burn anything with my new plextor 8 speed drive, but not dvd+r. Even dvd+rw work. What gives? Tried every type of burning software out there. The only one that actually does write to the + format is record now max, but it doesnt play in set top. Only on pc. Every other format works in my set top including +RW. All programs that try to write to the +R disk just sits there and my pc freezes. I even tried the new drive on another pc and same thing. I would be surprised if somone knew what the problem was. I guess it just must be a very crappy recorder. Even upgraded firmware.

if anything it sounds to me like you have some crappy +r media. i would buy some other brand and see if that would work

I'd do a baseline burn if I were you. Get a reliable, branded 2.4x +R blank and burn it at 2.4. Try it in your PC. Try it in your stand-alone player. Then try it in someone else's stand-alone.
If you really want to get into the nitty-gritty, try burning an image with DVDDecrypter. If you get errors in DVDDecrypter, you might (emphasize might) be able to get help diagnosing the problem from the author LIGHTNING UK! by posting into the Decrypting forum.
