Hi-

In Doom9's Virtual Dub Procedures Guide (http://www.doom9.org/virtualdub_procedures.htm#Splitting), you'll find instructions how to split .avis. However, you should probably use either VDubMod or NanDub for this, in case there's VBR MP3 involved, which VDub doesn't support.

As you can only split on keyframes, you may not be able to split exactly where you want, but only nearby.

Use virtualdub. Mark what you want to save, Set video and audio to direct stream copy. File-->Save as. Remember to only cut on keyframes. Next check out Doom9 Guides (http://www.doom9.org/) Step by step instructions for practically everything under the sun. As an added bonus, links to the software needed to accomplish each guide. What a great site.:) :) :) ;)
