Is there any reason why I shouldn't get this card, if I just want to capture the stream? I did read the FAQ and saw the part it saying "Displays only at 480i". So if you tune in to an hd channel it can only display it at 480i? Will it record the stream alright at it's full resolution..? Thanks..

I'm not sure since I haven't used mine in a couple years but I think the only recording software is some beta download that does not work in Win/2k or Win/Xp.

But that means you have to use Win/Me or lower which has a 4 MB max file size limit. And the WinTV-d card can not span muliple files so you have to manually record only about 25 minutes at a time, starting and stopping each time. So it is decent for getting some test data but not very good for recording complete shows.

And I'm not sure the beta recording software is even available anymore.

If you just care about recording you might consider one of those Fusion II cards. They are under $200, cheaper than the others because they don't have a hardware MPEG-2 decoder. Though I prefer cards like the HiDTV or MyHD that can also do full hardware display.
