View Full Version : Can't get BatchCCEWS to work

Hello.

I first asked the following question in the CCE forum ( http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=61539 ), but as I think the problem may be with BatchCCEWS or DoCCE4U, I guess that this is the right forum to look for help.

I've been using CCE with almost no problems for 2 years. And in the last months i've been following this forum, and using the Big3 with success.

I've changed my motherboard to one with an NForce2 chipset, reinstalled OS and software, and then the problems began. CCE keeps crashing right after it finishes one pass of encoding (either at the end of VAF file creation, or at the end of the first encoding in a multiple pass encoding.

I first thought that it had to do with my MB. But now i think it has to do with either BatchCCE/DoCCE4U, or the way it makes Ecl files. Let me explain why.

First of all, I'm not an expert of CCE. So i use either DVD2SVCD, DVD2DVD-R, or the Big3 to do my encodings. I've tried CCE 2.50; 2.66; 2.67; AviSynth 2.08 and 2.5; EclCCE 1.6; with the same behaviour. And I've tried it in 3 computers (2 AMD with NForce2 and 1 Intel).

In DVD2SVCD it fails with a "list out of bounds" error. Didn't have the time yet to check what it means.

With DVD2DVD-R (1.51) ti works perfectly.

With the Big3 it works perfectly until BatchCCE/DoCCE starts. In one of the computers BatchCCE just uses 99% of my CPU, and it never starts. On the other 2 it has a very strange behaviour. If I'm encoding a small movie it works; if the movie is main movie it crashes just after it encodes the Vaf file (I'm doing Robshot-Bach). If I let it going it goes to the 2nd Robshot-Bach pass, and crashes at the end of the 1st pass of that encoding).

I've tried using multiple pass, but the same happens.

And if i start CCE with the Ecl files generated by the Big3, it crashes in the same spot.

I've compared the Ecl files generated by DVD2DVD-R and BatchCCE, and they sure are different, although i don't know if those differences are significant.

So, what do you think? Why I'm getting this kind of behaviour? Tried all i could think off (reinstalled everything; tried different OS updates and drivers; scanned for viruses; runned memtest and Prime95; changed computer; tried different movies) but it still doesn't work.

If anyone outthere has some clue of what is happening, please let me know.

Sincerely

MM

Any difference in operating systems? I use BatchCCE on an Intel 2.4GHz laptop and it works fine, and on an AMD XP 2100 with no problems. The laptop has XP Home and the Desktop XP Pro.

Good to see you answering, BBWoof.

No, there's no change in Operating Systems. I'm still using the same version of Win XP Pro. Only changed the MB (now an Asus A8N8X deluxe) and the CPU (now an AMD XP 2600). Tried it with SP1 and without. Tried with and without the recommended updates by Microsoft. Changed drivers. Checked all i could think of. It almost always fails at the same place. Not always. Almost always.

I've tried 4 versions of CCE (2.50; 2.66; 2.67.00.10; 2.67.00.13) with the same result.

And the strange thing I notice is that it doesn't fail in a small encoding. I'm using DoItFast4U and Reauthorist, and it only fails in the encoding of the main movie. Tried different movies, and the behaviour is the same.

Is there any log or configuration file (either from BatchCCEWS or some other program, mainly DVD2DVD-R that is working perfectly) that i should send you to help in this problem?

Sincerely

Sorry for the delays in answering, but I had a router failure and was without the net for over a week.

This is a strange problem. You can turn on debug logging in BatchCCE, but I don't know how well it will work. Have you tried encoding the file without using BatchCCE? Does it work ok with CCE only?

So that explains why your site was down. Good to see it working.

Which one of the programs (BatchCCEWS; Reauthorist; DoItFast4U) creates the Ecl file. I think I'm right in guessing that it has to be BatchCCEWS. If it's not then I guess the problem has nothing to do with BatchCCEWS.
Yes, CCE works if I start it alone. But if I start CCE alone with the Ecl file it gives me the same error. And I can start CCE alone or with an Ecl file generated by other program (in my case DVD2DVD-R) and all goes well.

I'll try to generate a log. It's going to take a while, because I won't be at my computer for a day or two, but I'll be back with the result as soon as I can.

Thank you for your help.

After reading a thread in the CCE forum, I realized that I forgot to say that my operating system is a localized version (in Portuguese). I don't think that's a problem (afterall, DoCCE used to work in the same OS, from the same installation CD), but just in case.

Should I send you the error log Win XP trys to send when CCE fails?

Sure, send the log file, it may help. This does sound like it's a problem with the ecl.

Could you also send me a copy of the ecl file. When you send it, include in the email the version of cce you were using at the time.

I've just finished trying to encode. And it failed again. I was trying to send you the log files, but don't know how to do that. Tried e-mail; PM; your WWW site. But didn't find how i could send you my files. How can I do that?

MedicineMan,

You aren't using an SATA RAID config are you??? I was having the same problems and had to disable APIC mode in my BIOS. There is a LOT of arguing about APIC on all the Nforce boards but I can tell you I disabled it and all my problems went away. The only problem is you really need to do a fresh install of XP after you change the setting. Give me some more info on you HDD setup and I'll get back to you later tonight.

You may want to look at www.nforcershq.com also and get the latest drivers etc...

No, I'm not using a SATA driver. And yes, I've searched the nforcehq forums, and didn't find a answer to my problem.

I (and I think BBWoof) think that it's a problem with the ECL file. I just couldn't find a way to send my log files back to BBWoof.

Or maybe it's another problem. Maybe it's just my configuration. Altough I tried it in 3 different computers, with the same problem.

Thank you for your help.

hi
i think i'm experiencing the same problem.
trying to do a movie, everything ok until the encoding.
cce does the first reading, then when it's done nothing happens, everything stays at 0 under cce it's says 1/3 pass but nothing.
i check the processus and take 50% of cpu and 190 meg of ram.
everything is ok under dvd2dvd-r so i think it'a either docce ou eclcce.
same problem with batch.

the version of cce is 2.67.00.10.
eclcce is 1.6
have a p4 2,4 ghz 1 go ddr3200
win xp pro

i just saw that there's a 1.7 version of eclcce out, i'm gonna try with it.

now i do everything in c: and it works.
don't now if it has somethong to do with raid or different controler.
weird anyway

Was this problem ever resolved?
Cause Im experiencing it now. After I hit Encode in Reauthorist, CCE creates the .vaf and then sits on 0% on the 1st pass (50% CPU Usage).
Im using a P4 2.6 HT, ASUS P4P 800- and yes, serial ata drive but not in raid mode.
