I have a 4.1 SB Live! soundcard and I'm using AC3Filter to play AC3 with the center channel mixed into the front 2 channels.
I'm wondering whether this is possible with AAC/AAC+.

I really like the AC3Filter settings panel and I hope there was something like that for other multichannel formats like AAC and OGG.

The question is basically: Is anybody developing an AACFilter? :)

Additionally, I have a feeling that OGG development has kind of died down. Am I right or are we going to see 5.1 OGGs with channel coupling?

AAC+ is relatively new format. There are no complex implementations like Valex's ac3filter.But there is another filter called CoreAAC and its current version supports AAC+ decoding.(available in downloads section of doom9.org)

DSP Guru has just released the tool for converting ac3->5.1AAC(HE/LC).Look Here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?postid=381613#post381613).

Additionally, I have a feeling that OGG development has kind of died down.

I don't think so.I think the developers are currently working on a new release.I think the Oggds filter can play 5.1 Ogg audio.[not sure as i haven't tried yet]

for the downmix you can use valex' matrix mixer (http://sourceforge.net/projects/matrix-mixer) filter, it has the same options as the ac3filter, but can also be used with other decoders (like coreaac)

Am I right or are we going to see 5.1 OGGs with channel coupling?not in the next months i fear
