Hi, Here goes. Whenever I rip a dvd to dvdr I put it in my dvd player and it wont play. I though...dodgy dvd's but I passed one to a friend and he played it fine so u though ahh dodgy player but I got a dvd of him (same media type and brand) and it played fine so i tried copying it and it worked fine.
It has to be a problem with my pc converting. I've tried DVDclone, dvd2one 112 & 113, & dvd shrink always the same....disk error. What am I doing wrong?????

It used to work fine.....help!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

please email suggestions to tugless@dodo.com.au

I assume you are putting the disc in a STB DVD player and it won't play properly but it will play fine in your friend's STB DVD player. If this is the case, you may have recorded a non-standard DVD.

For example, if you are not placing a AUDIO_TS directory in the DVD-R root, some players may not accept the disc while others will have no problem with it. Some players will accept longer file names while others fail.

I use Nero and specify the disc type as DVD-Video. Nero makes sure the root folders are formatted properly, writes the IFO and VOBS in a certain order, etc.

You may have altered something very small and benign in your recording settings and how are getting into some trouble.

Be more specific in the method and settings you use to record the DVD-R.

I found the fix. When I installed either clonedvd or nero 6 it updated my aspi layer...once I went back to the old version it worked fine

I had the same problem and that also was the fix. Something to watch out for.

Is this also in the latest 6.0015/19 versions of Nero that the aspi layer istalled isnt working for standalone DVD players?

I have been experimentating now with different programs to create nice looking/ playing DVD's on my HDD but never burned directly from my HDD to a DVD using a burning program, i used a few times programs, transcoders with included burnengine and by running Nero wich comes with my Plextor, i wonder actually in wich standard i should burn to be compatible in dvdplayers. There are different profiles in Nero for DVDburning; wich too choose?

-DVD ISO
-DVD UDF
-DVD UDF/ISO

Most dvdtitles also don't have not very long files names, so i think i just take the basic ISO format if i should choose ISO, but what about UDF, what is it?

CAn someone please tell me a little bout dvdburning before i waste all those expensive DVDR's..?

So i read now i have to put both folders into the root (not only video_ts but also the audio-ts)
And then, can you just burn your ripped, created, transcoded fiels that play correctly from HDD on DVD just like you do with CD?

This is really new to me...

thanks.
