how does it come that my media player crashes upon trying to open the movie ?? had to use a DVD viewing softw. to watch it. video and sound is all fine. ripped it using divx 3(something) instead of divx pro 5. but dont just say right away, "well thats the problem". please think of other possibilities. has happened before too, with other movies ripped with gordian knot.

Hi, again !

Not much Info in your post, but in the case that Ive read your other post (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=62632), I think I know what could be wrong...

Have you muxed the AC3-audio to the video ???

When yes, you need a AC3-decoder-filter to play it back...

DVD-software-players have a In-build one, so that would explain that they work !

Download Alex-AC3Filter from Doom9's download section, and try again... ;)

Bye

now you i like. you actually follow me through my stupidity and help me cope with it :p
with DVD2AVI i selected the "mux all audio tracks" options, as recommended by the person who said to do that in the DVD2AVI part "section" of gordian knot.
Ok, i installed the AC3 Filter, tried to open the movie with the media player and it crashed again. Do i have to re-rip ?

No you sholdn't have to re-rip. If you have your .avi file then it's just a matter of overcomming your software problem with the audio.

Here's an obvious question, did you restart your computer? I also would try using another player. Also does this problem only happen when you use AC3 audio?

ok. it works with another media player, so i guess i'll just have to stick with that one then.
other problem, and its pretty ironic considering which movie i've been bothering all of u with, its fight club. you know how "tyler durdon" has fun inserting these images in a movie at the cinema he works at ? well thats the problem i get. i checked like the first 15 minutes, and about twice or thrice, the contour of tyler durdon appears for a split second. i dont remember seeing that last time i watched the movie (pre-rip). so i guess its a post-rip problem. is there anyway to reprocess the avi file to get rid of such flaws ?

cheers to the ppl who still havent completely lost faith (in me),
