Where can I download this version?

I downloaded the one off the site but it doesn't work. This is the version I had on my old PC, but now I have a spanking new one I can't seem to find anywhere to re-download it :(

Please help me find it!

Also, I capture VHS videos in MPEG2 format and then use Flask to convert into an AVI and then VDUB or VMACH to edit and the TMPG to make a final MPG videoclip. What is best to crop say 6 pixels on the left and right (black borderss from the tapes) of the clip?

Any help MUCH apprecaited! :)

Well, you could start by posting in the right forum: the DVD2AVI forum is dedicated to the application of the same name.

Thread moved.

hi and welcome to the forum,

first of: DVD2AVI is a program and not a description of a porcess :) it can be used for the duty expressed in the name though, but is considered outdated for this very purpose. nowadays it is used for frameserving purposes by the majority (99%+) of endusers...

second: Before dealing with your problem, i have to say that your method is - well - slightly outdated and complicated aswell as a waste of quality :)

Of course i do not know what you want to do with the mpg file (VCD/SVCD/DVD) but for all of these there would be a better method, or program. DVD2SVCD. there's extensive quides at www.doom9.org that describe all the steps necessary to create your perfect (well almost as perfect as it can get) SVCD OR VCD.
Apart from a huge speed increase you will also gain quite a bit of quality by using this program.

Doesn't look easy.

I presume when I create the SVCD it is just a MPg file and resizes it all down etc.

I'll go read up on it and have a go! Thanks for your time in posting! :) ;)

On the contrary, It is twice as easy as the method you described IMHO. It will take a little time and patience on your part, but believe me you'll be much happier with the time saved and the end product.

How exactly do I resize the videoclip I have?

I recorded a program off TV in MPEG2 format (720x576 or something resolution) and the quality is pretty good but interlaced.

I want to crop say 8pixels on the left and right off (remove the borders) and then resize it down to 384x288 resolution and in the process de-interlace it, removing the horizontal lines when there is movement.

I'm sorry I have read so many guides and none of them seem to tell what what to do in this instance. I have DVD2AVI 1.77.3 but don't understand how to use those silly slider bars to resize it :(

Please please please help me! I have spent ages fiddling around with it and I still cant seem to resize it or deinterlace it!

What I want is a mega high quality .avi (uncompressed or highest DivX quality) as then I will TMPGEnc it as I prefer MPG as it plays good at work.

Please help :D

Thanks guys!

omg...
let's start once again.
what do you want? do you want SVCDs? burnt to a CD to play in a standalone/PC? or do you just want mpg files?...

anyway, if you want HQ mpg files - larger than SVCD res - what you have to read, is the TV capture guide. mostly the postprocessing part... personally i would recommend the avisynth postprocessing method...

in short, create a dvd2avi project from your mpeg2 stream, encode the audio seperately, create an avisynth script for cropping, resizing, maybe filtering (denoising etc) and frameserving to TmpegEnc... all of this is covered in the guides more than once...

if you are satisfied with SVCD quality, just use DVD2SVCD

Avisynth....I will read up on this.

Basically I want really good quality MPG videos in 384x288 pixels with nice edges (no blacker borders or tape iterference at the bottom).

I do not need it burnt to CD or anything like that. Just a MPG that will play on almost all PC's and is in as high a quality i can produce.

Do you think if I upload a small clip here (2mb in MPG) you could tell me if the quality is ok? It would be the way I'm doing it now .... (I use FlaskMPEG and crop and resize to 384x288, then I use VDUB to crop out the exact part I want and output in MJPEG, then I use TMPGEnc and 2200bitrate for a reasonable quality)

Thanks

imho you are contradicting yourself here... real good quality cannot be achieved at this resolution if you are watching on a normal PC monitor (what you are obviously intending to do...)

if you are going to play the files solely on your computer i absolutely do not see any reasons why you do not go for either xvid/divx or if you want mpeg2 - DVD...
everything else does not make sense imho!

I choose MPG as everyone, even those with a rubbish PC can play it back without the need for installing codecs and stuff.

What resolution do you think I should use?

Do you know where I can dload that version of Flask? The FlaskMPG site seems not to work anymore.

Sorry :(

oh well, if you're main goal is distributing i hope that you are aware of rule 6 - as you're just on the edge of violating it. :)

depends on the content you encoding to, aswell as the amount of space you want to use!

nope sorry, don't know that, since i've stopped using flaskmpeg as soon as i got to know gordianknot and doom9.org - which in fact is quite some time ago. perhaps you'll want to give xmpeg a try if you really insist on using such a program. it is actually a derrivate of flaskmpeg, just with some more advanced features and better compatibility.
