hi
I need some advices
Imagine I have a DVD in NTSC (I don't have the sources) and I need to do the same DVD but in PAL.
What softwares do you advise?

something for ripping: dvd decrypter or smartripper

but to transcode from NTSC to PAL, what do to and what to use?
What's the easiest way? Should I use frameserving and virtualdub?

I'm using dvd maestro for authoring but is there something better for this case?

Thanks and sorry for the newbie question

Imagine I have a DVD in NTSC (I don't have the sources)...

what do you mean by you don't have the sources?

that means I only have the NTSC DVD not the sources like the original DV editing.
I think it's easier to get a better quality as soon as you have the original editing instead of a movie version already compressed!

I only have the mpeg2 sources coming from an authored DVD.

I wonder if I explain correctly?! ;)

Thanks

first rip your dvd with dvd decrypter. then follow the guides on this (http://www.geocities.com/xesdeeni2001/StandardsConversion/index.html#NTSCVideoDVD2PALDVD) page.

I'm afraid I can't help you with the authoring part because I never use maestro. Doom9 has a guide to authoring with Maestro here (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/maestro.htm) but I have never used it.

hope this helps :)

[EDIT] just dicovered that DVD2SVCD has a NTSC to PAL checkbox which might be just what you are looking for :p /[EDIT]
