View Full Version : is there any way to get around the 1GB menus size-restriction?

I made a really nice DVD which in fact has an OST CD's tracks on it and some animated menus for each of the track (animation is 'til now only a still background picture plus the track's time counting down)...

because there are quite some tracks on it there are also quite some menus on it (in terms of overall size...)!

When it comes to compilation, Maestro aborts complainig that the size of all menus must not exceed 1 Gigabyte (I think because all the menus are placed into that xxx_0 VOB).

How can I tell Maestro to compile the menus in more than just one VOB?
Or is that not possible at all?
Well I could make the animations as movie clips, but than I can not have buttons on them...

I'm downsampling the movie clips now to make them fit into one single VOB but is there no other way for this?

You sure can have buttons on movie clips, thatīs called "motion-menu"
and also "button over video". IIRC, Maestro can do such things.

You could also manualy create the vts sets in Maestro.Right click on the name of the dvdproject in the project tree window, choose properties, check manual vts allocation. If you right click on it again you can put the menus with a different vts.I'm pretty sure this will work as long as you have more than one movie in the movie folder.1 gig is alot of menus.

You can't exceed the 1GB barrier, because the next VTS_01_X.VOB is "1", which HAS to be the movie. Try re-encoding your menus to a lower bitrate.

you can also overcome the 1gb limit with manual VTS allocation.

by default the menus get put into Video_TS.VOB, but with manual VTS allocation in maestro you can spread the menus over all the _0.VOB's.

sorry for not replying earlier - that email notification does not seem to work for this post...

1 GB is not really much if You have a lot of animated menus!

This manual VTS allocation seems to be the one I was looking for, but there's nothing in the manual about that! (at least not in the search index)

....
well okay, I have found out by myself how to do it!

Thanks a lot!!!
