While its possible to use an IR control and Girder etc to control ZoomPlayer, the latter was designed for Windows so I'm wondering if anyone has tried a wireless optical mouse as a defacto remote?

JB I must admit I'm not entirely clear about what your asking!

Have you considered using an infra red/wireless keyboard (with built in mouse). This is what I use!

If you get one of these (mine is a cheap ruwido model), it may even possible to use it to 'beam' the ZoomPlayer codes you require, to a 'learning' remote control.

Hope this helps. Cheers

I use a combo of a wireless keyboard/mouse and a streamzap controller. You can use girder with the streamzap if you wish, but as long as you stick with well known software (zoomplayer, PowerDVD XP and so forth) its not required. Frankly, with the exception of changing subtitles and audio or internal settings in ZP I dont use the keyboard at all.

Hi Ryokurin,

Have you not thought about buying an 'learning' remote control and teaching it all the codes you require?

the remote I have could do it, its just that by default it only supports around 40 or so things out of the box. You can then use girder to support more functions. (you still have to keep their software running to get girder to work correctly) Once I get that taken care of it will be much better and I can probably ditch the keyboard completely.

As for learning remotes, the only one I know for the fact works with the streamzap receiver is a Philips one that is a bit out of my price range to even try it; maybe eventually...
