Hello, I'm trying to back up my copy of Fast Times at Ridgemont High, but I'm having problems. It's a problem that I have had with other disks. I didn't know whether to put the post here or in the authoring area or the ripping area or the burning area, as I don't know which is the problem.
I rip using DVD Decrypter. I let DVD Decrypter select the main movie files. As always, DVD Decrypter doesn't select the video_ts.ifo file, which I find to be a necessity, so I rip that as well (actually, I ripped the entire disk, but I dropped the files in question into a new folder, so the effect is the same).
The files add up to 4.27 gigs (4,586,881,024 bytes), and when I drop the folder into Instant CD/DVD to burn it, the bar is green so Instant CD/DVD seems to agree with me that the movie is small enough to fit onto a DVD-R.
edit: DUH, forgot the last part! When I hit the write button in Instant CD/DVD, I get an error that says "please insert a disc with XXXXXXXX bytes of space." In other words, it's saying the files are too big.
I tried using DVDFab to make it fit but as usual I got an error, and that's the only other tool (besides DVDShrink 3 beta) I have. Can someone help me with this? Like I said it's happened before and it's quite frustrating since I don't want to run DVDShrink on a movie this close to fitting unless I absolutely have to. DVDShrink makes you include all the extras and whatnot which can seriously bloat a DVD, even if you convert the unnecessary bits to still images.
