Ordinarily I use Prassi PrimoDVD for burning, but every single time i try to burn this DVD, it asks for a blank DVD, and I've put 3 different types in (Memorex R and an RW, plus another good brand R) and it always says the process failed. No matter how much I try.

Nero doesn't SUPPORT my drive, Pioneer A05 (grumble grumble) so IMGTools and Nero are out. I'm going to try Decryptor if I ever find a way to make an IMG file out of the DVD without use of a command line program...

but is there any other way I can burn, or why is Primo DVD doing this?

Nero works fine on my A05 running W2K sp4. I use it everyday and it has been fine. Maybe you are having trouble with the wrong aspi.

What exactly is the problem you have with Nero?

Following link takes you to Nero support showing support for the Pioneer drives

why don't you use dvd decrypter. its free and its small.

free small software all ways seems to cause the least amount of problems.

dvd_master it's happening because the disc you are burning hasn't been authored properly.

open the .ifo file up IfoEdit and make sure it's region free, and that you have run get vts sectors.

Once you've done that it should burn sweet with primodvd.

Use ImgTools classic to make the image from the files on your hdd. No CLI involved! Then as you say, just burn in DVD Decrypter.

My 105 works great with Prassi! Did you get the November, 2002 PXEngine update? You need that.

I don't have the direct link with me right now, but here's a back door to it.

Prassi PXEngine Update (http://www.cdrom-drivers.com/drivers/88/88686.htm)

You can always search on PXEngine358.EXE. That's the latest and greatest.

DVD_Master:

I just tried the June 03 408 engine that Lightning UK pointed us to and my Pioneer 103 drive (I've got a 103, 104 and 105) didn't like it under Prassi so I've reverted to the 358 engine. I didn't fully test the other drives, but a funky bug that shows up in Prassi and the 358 engine with the latest firmware that says my 105 can write DVDs at 20 something X, still showed with the 408 engine. Additionally, Prassi with either engine, knows my 105 has 2X capabilities with RWs, but won't write at 2X with 2X certified TDK RW media, although Nero will, but I'm not a big Nero fan, too many coasters.

Prassi stands as my favorite burning program since it's been 100% coaster proof in my hands. Get the 358 engine and burn away.

Just got my RecordNow Deluxe and it is truly a fitting heir to Prassi. I'll get flamed for this, but I've always preferred Prassi to the others because I've never gotten a coaster and I've never had the system hiccups that Nero (OK, but not the best) and Roxio (total crap) seem to start.

Anyway, I knew it was time to dump Prassi since it wouldn't let me burn 2X certified RWs at 2X. When I tried Nero, I could burn at 2X, but my Sony set top, which is exceedingly cranky, wouldn't play the disc; 1X burns play fine either Prassi or Nero. When I got RecordNow it did the "complete" experiment.

1. Burn VIDEO_TS folder onto RW at 1X with Nero; disc plays in Sony
2. Erase that very RW and burn the very same VIDEO_TS folder using RecordNow; disc plays in Sony.
3. Erase the RW and burn at 2X using Nero, disc is NOT recognized by Sony
4. Erase the RW and burn at 2X using RecordNow, disc plays fine in Sony

This is something I've always stated, DVD burning is a tripod event; your MEDIA, burning software and speed all contribute to compatibility.

My $0.02...
