View Full Version : DIF4U - VIDEO_TS still encrypted if DVD is used

This might be common knowledge, but it caught me by surprise.
If you use DIF4U on an encrypted DVD, the VIDEO_TS folder it creates does not use DVDDecryptor on the VOB files, so they're still encrypted when they're copied.
I typically use DIF4U directly on the original DVD (it works well, except for this little gotcha)....

@ quinn
you know that using the DVD straight from the drive will probably kill the drive over time! You have been warned. With the speed of today's drives I can't understand why you don't just create an iso with dvd decryptor - it only takes about 30 mins on average. You are strongly advised NOT to rip straight from the disc.

I've heard that argument before, but I don't buy it - it takes DVD Decryptor about 30 minutes to make an ISO, it takes DIF4U about an hour to split the disk apart.
If I get 1/2 the lifetime of my drive (given that, at least for me, technology gets replaced within 3 years), I probably won't even notice the difference.

You should look at all the features of DoItFast4U! before posting, or check out the knowledgebase at http://www.doitfast4u.com

Not like I haven't - I didn't see anything over there about this issue. But not to worry - I won't bother posting again.

Feel free to post, but please only about current issues. The issue you describe was fixed in version 1.2.0 with a certain extra feature I added, which is why I said to look at all the features ;)
A search of "encrypted" in the knowledgebase will also enlighten you.
