hi,
i just did a test burn of my movie to see how this whole process would go. watching it on tv i have major pixelation problems and sound blips - which would be bearable, but i also have some missing sound, about ever five minutes the sound goes totally out for a few seconds.

a little history... i shot this movie on dv and edited in avid xpress. i used cce to convert the movie. the mp2 file looks fine on the computer. i authored it in scenarist and output the dvd image file. i burned that with dvd decripter on my sony dru500.

any ideas on how i can get the sound back or why its dropping out? on the amplifier the L and R signals totally dissapear. how bout the pixelation?

thanks a lot for your help

It could be that the disc media and the player does not like each other. Try burn it to another media brand and see if it helps. Or dou you get the same results when playing the DVD files on the hard drive in the computer?

thats the thing,
i havn't been able to play the files with power dvd. i understand that power dvd should be able to load files , but when i try to select the dvd file that scenarist made it doesn't show up in the menu. so, i can't check it.

scenarist made a dvd file though, is that right? or was i supposed to output an iso somehow?

thanks

so the dvd plays in my computer dvd player through windvd with none of the audio drop outs and far less pixelation. but instead of that the video pauses for a second about every ten seconds, like clock work.

do different defects in the play back signify a problem with the media?

i'm not sure what media this is, it was the sample disk shipped with the burner.

or, would you say there could be a problem with my dvd file that scenarist exported.

sunchaser, what speed are you burning at? Try 1X and see how you go.
Have a look at this sticky (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36085) to see the improvements when burning slower.

thanks beastie.

do you find that its best to burn on a clean install?

is burning with image tool and nero better than with dvd decrypter? because i used decrypter.

and, what does SA compatibility stand for?

thanks.

I don't think having a clean install is very practical if all you want to do is burn discs. As long as the PC isn't so busy that it can't keep the buffer full then it should be OK. The PC only feeds the data to the burner, after that the firmware takes over.

DVD Decrypter is just as capable as any other software to the best of my knowledge.

SA is an acronym for Stand Alone, ie. a disc compatible with a standard home DVD Player.
