Basically older movies are gonna be easier because they're often single layer with stereo sound. There are guides on the www.dvdrhelp.com site that might be easier if you're new to all this. I stongly suggest a combination of nero6.x and daemon tools for your burning related needs. Neroimage drive is great for mounting images and if you can't mount the image with nero you can use daemon interchangeably they are compatible with each other. A quick tip when installing your encoder:install tmpgenc to C:\ instead of C:\program files to avoid long filenames. Most of my dvd related stuff is in my tmpgenc folder, I find its easier that way and tools like avisynth or vfapi are particular about paths. So I put vfapi and avisynth in my encoder folder. Like this C:\tmpgenc\avisynth. Not only that, but videolan is fussy about C:\ and C:\somelongpath when doing autoplay. So when I image a svcd the path to the svcd is just C:\ not C:\somefolder for images.

I suggest you read up at http://www.dvddecrypter.com/. You gotta help us out be also being proactive in searching for common questions. Remember forum rule #1.

I think a great place to spend time is in Doom9's section called The Basics (http://www.doom9.org/dvd-basics.htm). There are 13 guides, separated into 4 sections, that should be able to help you get started.

Because if it's a single layer DVD, it's even easier with DVDDecrypter. Just create an image file and burn.

For lots of reasons... SHRINK is fairly new... It is a simple and one of the best simple tools to just get it done... Some people are more interested in highest quality of output or removal of unwanted stuff... A lot of people still use the tools they learned long before there was a SHRINK... and they will direct you to what they know... some will almost fight over directing you to their way of doing things because it's human nature to reject change...
Sounds from this post you just wanna copy movies NOW and don't wanna study so use SHRINK and be happy... Many people that came before you and struggled to learn are responsible for the evolution that made that happen... If you wanna learn more you gotta be willing to READ the guides though... People will get short with you and stop replying if you ask a question, get refered to a guide and then come back with another question clearly not doing the work to help yourself... The forum is a place to come when you have really tried and get stuck... people will always be helpful in that instance...
