Does anyone know where I can download the filter?

Send a PM to FredThompson. He's a packrat. He keeps everything. I think he may even have Decomb 0.01.

Thanks, I'll do that. I tried every search engine I could think of and all that came up was the thread here with the dead link. Funny you suggested contact FredThompson... I want to test his script for VHS captures and that's why I need the DarkSmoother filter! :D

Try this link (http://members.xoom.virgilio.it/alex_e_basta/Filters/darksmoother_RGB32.zip)
I think this is the RGB version, but I may be wrong.
Sorry,I don't remember why I renamed it ...rgb32.

I'm pretty sure there's a copy on my editing machine. DarkSmoother is RGB-only.
DarkSmoother performed better than ShadowSmoother but it's slower. ShadowSmoother has a tendency to soften the entire frame, not just near-black.
That filter script is pretty old. I'm doing things quite differently now. I'd suggest tossing out the KVCD-based aspect and using Kevin Atkinson's conditional filter for cleaning up dropouts. There's some good discussion about it on neuron2's site. I haven't had time to work with it. Won't have much time for the next couple of weeks.
You should also take a look at Guava Comb.
Packrat? Yeah, I guess so.
