Okay I just bought a new AverTV DVB-T card and put in in my PC. Everythings fine, picture is great. I am trying to record music video's - clean them up (chop the beginning/end) and archive them to DVD.
When I record a video clip and play it back using the AverTV software - it plays fine - in sync and everything. When I use PowerDVD 5 - it plays fine too. When I tried to open the mpg file in WMP - the cursor moves for about 3/4 secs, but the screen is black, then the cursor jumps to the end. So no luck here.
Then I try to open it up in TMPGenc so that I can chop it - again the same problem. I assumed these two programs would use the powerDVD codec for playback, but clearly not.
So I tracked down a SVCD codec on the net (Sticky's??) and installed it - then the files opened up in both programs - but had horizontal lines here and there - which were not present when the same clip is played using PowerDVD / AvertTV software, so I put this down to the fact that the independent codec is not as good as PowerDVD's one.
Now my main problem is when I use the cut/join facility in TMPGenc, when it performs this task it de-multiplexes the video and audio and when you look at the time lengths - there is always 2 secs extra in the audio when compared to the video time. How can I get rid of this? This is my first time using SVCD files - so I am not sure if I am doing something wrong and was hoping somebody else who does similar capture will be able to help out!
Do I need to change the SVCD codec? is there a better one?
Is TMPGenc the right tool to cut up SVCD files?
Is there alternative TV playing & recording software for digital cards? (winDVR doesn't work BTW)
I've got about 3gig of music videos and can't do anything with them because of the sync problem!! If you need me to elaborate on anything more - please ask, I tried to say everything I could remember, thanks in advance.
