View Full Version : M2V and LPCM WAV out-of-sync with DVD-Lab but not other authoring software

Hello :)

I have a NTSC capture that I converted to standard D1 (720x480) MPEG-2 using TMPGEnc Plus. I used an AviSynth AVS script with decomb for IVTC so using the WIZARD MODE in TMPGEnc it recognized it as 23.976fps and automatically selected 3:2 pulldown. I used the 2-pass VBR NTSC DVD template with LPCM audio. This all resulted in an M2V file and a WAV file.

Authored in DVD-Lab (first time using it) and the sound was out-of-synch but just BARELY ... we are talking probably milliseconds here (less than one second).

So out of curiousity I authoring using my trustly SpruceUP and the audio synch was dead on.

I also downloaded TMPGEnc DVD Auhtor and again it was dead on with audio synch.

So I'm wondering why DVD-Lab had a problem? Could it be the LPCM WAV file that TMPGEnc created? I usually do AC-3 audio but this particular movie was only 1hour 15minutes long so I was able to do a 2-pass VBR encode with an average of 6200kbps and still use LPCM WAV so I thought I'd try it.

Anyways if anyone has any in-sight here it would be appreciated. I find SpruceUP to be very limited in menu creation (plus they don't look good on a TV at all). TMPGEnc DVD Author is better but still somewhat limited. However DVD-Lab appears to have a much better menu creation interface and overall I like the design of the program and it's interface. But obviously it is no good to be if I'm getting audio sync issues.

Anyways, I'm using what I believe to be the newest version of DVD-Lab which is Version 1.3 Beta 2

In the meantime I am converting the LPCM WAV file into a 256kbps 2.0 AC-3 file using the AC-3 encoder that comes with Scenarist.

So I'm going to try again with the AC-3 file to see if that makes a difference.

I'll report back once I get a change to do this (the AC-3 is encoding now as I type this).

Well the audio was still out-of-sync even using AC-3 audio. The only thing I can figure is that DVD-Lab doesn't like my M2V file although there is nothing technically wrong with it as my files are in-sync using SprcueUP and TMPGEnc DVD author.

Oh well
