View Full Version : DVD2DVD dream come true ?

Finally,

I'm able to use my favourite dvd2svcd program to convert to DVDR !

I installed D2D v 1.2.1 build 2a and give it a try, following the clear guide made by mrbass....

I use scenarist 2.7...

However after the conversion scenarist got to about 50% and quit with a "could not write to memory" error.
I can not post my log file , because I tried again last night and then everything worked fine ...

What did I change ? Nothing except the max bitrate setting.
The guide said 9000, I noticed scenarist uses 8000 max so I set it to 7990. And scenarist did everything it was supposed to.

Are there others who had this problem or was I just lucky the conversion completed the second time ? In other words , Am I wrong assuming my lowering the max bitrate did the trick ?

The movie I used was 'The Mummy', and I chose dutch and english dvd subtitles?
I just tested in powerdvd and subs seems to be working...image is now burning and I hope the audiosynch will be ok too...

One weird thing I also noticed was that I treid to recover and got a I/O error 21 device not available. Took me some time to notice I had unmounted the dvd ISO image. Strange that the ISO needs to be mounted to start/restart the dvd authoring step ? Any reason for this ?

dvd2svcd : I already thought the most of you but dvd2dvd leaves me speechless :-)

update: well, I burnt the *.dvd image using dvd decryptor.

image played ok with powerdvd, in synch and with subtitles selectable.
However on my standalone, the subs can not be switched, the standalone shows both as present but when I switch from dutch to english, they just keep on playing in dutch.

d2d fault ? scenarist fault ? standalone not 100% compatible ?

its a pioneer dv454, should be ok normally. Plays everything else.

Any suggestions ?

You are most probably having the same problem I am facing (look here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60463&perpage=20&pagenumber=3).

I suspect the dual ID for the second sub to be the problem (look in the VTS_01_0.IFO with ifoedit). I have a Samsung, so the Pioneer are also affected.

Patience, until maybe a fix comes along with the next release.

Indeed, this seems to be the same problem...unfortunately I already deleted to image after I burned it so I can't let ifoedit analyse it.
And the original is now on loan with a collegue who is now on holiday for 3 weeks :-(
Guess I'll have to wait a bit...

I set mine to 8500 and now don't encounter those max bitrate too high errors in scenarist.

Or maybe look here at the comments from 2COOL (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=60999), it is related to another question but I think it might give us a workaround for us in the meantime.

I will try to fiddle around with ifoedit to modify the ID of the second subpicture following 2COOL instructions.

werid thing is though that scenarist didn't give any errors about the bitrate, it just crashed with the error writing to memory message....
I just completed a second conversion with max set to 8000 and again a succes..guess I'll stick to this for a while :-)
