well I've been playing and found another DVD Hacking method but knowing you 2COOL you have probably got a guide to do it anyway :cool:, so it's best I check first but I don't think I've seen this done or suggested anywhere

I guess it's back to macros I think as thats the closest I can get to automating it though unless a programmer steps forward as this could be automated to author the DVD in one go starting from ripping it

it would probably be a bit like the DoitFast4U program, it would be StripitFast4U :D

It would be great if Derrow actually implements some of the IFOedit methods I have done like removing titles. Since IFOedit can already parse the IFO, he can do anything with the data. I wish he gave us some clues on fixed or new features on next version. I hope we get it before Christmas. :)

What hack are talking about? The way we are still finding new things to do with IFOedit 0.95, one can say we are still beta testing it. :p It's been awhile since it has been out.

that's all part of the fun finding new ways or making the old ways work with the least effort and best results maintaining the all important structure

I've been playing again and just by changing a few figures I can chop and change cells to anywhere I want and even add cell's so I can add blanks it I want but this time DVDShrink accepts it, works with it and creates a working DVD ;)

just now I added a 8 second logo to one of the extras as a test and it seemed ok but it's just a shame I can't create a GUI and automate this and DVDShrink still ain't been in touch with me

I've got my beginners guide to computer programming book out now I'm that desperate :eek:. I guess if I keep on crying about it maybe someone will offer some help and create a simple little GUI that does it all for you

IfoEdit development is very slow. I don't know what takes up Derrow's time, as I haven't seen or heard of anything from 321Studios (his employer) since DVDXCopy Platinum. We correspond from time to time, but responses from him take weeks at times.

The most recent IfoEdit beta was made available privately on August 8, 2003. It was to be made public here after about a month if there were no major bugs found. So far there has been NO feedback, positive or negative. That either means everything works, or no one has tried it. That lack of feedback could also be a factor in determining how Derrow spends his time.

VB is probably the easiest language for a raw beginner to write a GUI. If I say anything more about VB it would be both off-topic and probably offend many VB programmers.

it's a shame he's not around that much because for the sake of a few tweaks I would love to have done to Ifoedit, it would make DVD authoring a piece of cake by cutting out so many steps and automating a lot of it

I can give him feedback no problem but I would love him to do a couple of simple mods that make it so much easy playing with this wonderful tool but I ain't heard of him at all, so I can't really discuss it with him

it's a shame really :(

p.s. VB, ain't got a clue and I ain't got the time to learn :(, I'd rather someone else did it and share the glory :D

I hope the next version of IfoEdit has a "view" option to show just the command tables! It would make life so much easier if the command tables were available at the top instead of scrolling all the time.

Also the addition of material into an IFO would come in handy - a "write" function instead of it behaving like some kind of Hex- Editor where a few extra commands can easilly corrupt the ifo in memory as it is now.

Anyway - heres hoping that Derrow regains his facination for the subject.

what beta are you talking about ? 0.96 ? that was the last thing I received from derrow. I run some tests and gave him some feedback but
never heard of him. I didn't found a severe bug anyway, just some "cosmetic" things you can easy correct yourself.

There will always be a need for ifoedit, but I think it's easier to use dvdfab first then make any changes (if needed) with ifoedit. BTW, the new dvdfab is out as of today it looks like. :)
The only downside is it's no longer free. :(

when I get this DVD Stripping tool I'm co-developing released it won't be the $40 DVDFAB costs :scared:

it will split a DVD but also allow keep the menu's and also selective extras if you want them aprt from doing other things of course

The beta can't have gone out to the old list of beta testers as I too didn’t receive a copy. I also made a donation to Derrow as I found IfoEdit to be very useful.

I note with a little annoyance from the mpucoder forum that a donation only gets you 3 months of access... shame as I used to participate with members problems but alas no more.

May be if the 3 month rule was relaxed the forum would be more active.

I use V0.96 and would be interested to know what has changed in the new beta.

Forum membership is lifetime, unlimited.
I've done everything possible to accomodate those who contributed to Derrow. Derrow provided me with a list of contributors prior to setting up the current system, and they all were given free membership, and sent an email. Derrow no longer sends email to announce a new beta or release.
The page where new betas were previously announced ( http://www.mpucoder.com/derrow/prel.html ) will redirect you to the file archive.
If anyone who was previously on Derrow's mailing list has difficulty accessing the file archive (also linked on the forum main page, and also lifetime access) they should send an email to majordomo@mpucoder.com

I'm not ripping anything so it can't be that and this is a simple editing tool for your homemade bedroom movies to remove warnings,logos or silly extras you may have put in ;)
