I have a sub-menu that I want to fade in and out and I can't figure out how to implement the fade out part. The sub-menu is supposed to work that it plays a 2 seconds fade-in clip first, then plays a still with subpicture and buttons, then when one of the buttons are executed, I want it to play a 2 seconds fade-out clip first before it goes to the target link.
TIA

Create a 2 second long clip that has the fading out sequence, and have it so when you press whatever button, it links to the fade out menu, and when THAT ends it takes you to whatever the target is.

Yeah but the problem is that I have 20+ buttons with different targets. The fade-in was easy because it only links to a single target which is the still. The still has to always link to the fade-out clip then to whatever button I have executed. I tried linking the still timeout to the fade-out clip, and the buttons to their particular targets but the result skips the fade-out clip and just jumps straight to the button target. Unless, you meant make 20+ fade-out clips for each button... :( there's gotta be an easier way.

AFAIK, there is not a "fade-in" or "fade-out" capability like you want. The only way to accomplish this, I'm afraid, is with the 20 different 2 second fade-out sequences.
My current project has 28 "go to" videos (short, 1 second transitions, and each different) that has its own menu. You will probably have to do this just like I did.

DVDlab has some transition capabilties, although I have never persevered with DVDlab, to date, so I can't give you detailed information - just check out the webpage:

"How to create Menu Transitions? From Wizard button on main toolbar select Menu Transition. Select which menu is "From", and what is "To". Pick one of the 50 transitions and click Proceed. The transition clip will be generated and positioned between the Menus".

If you wish to continue with Maestro (and I must admit I really like Maestro), then I would be inclined to concur with slk001's advice.

set the end action of the 2sec clip to a command sequence which pics the right place to go by choosing the last highlighted SPRM.

The EASY answer to this in Maestro is an absolute doddle.. i'm surprised no-one has thought of it but there you go...
PLAYLIST is the answer... make a 20 entry playlist.... each entry points to the single fade clip... but because it's PLAYLIST based playback each entry in the playlist can have a separate and distinct end action....
think you'll find that sorts you out...

This is exactly what I was looking for... works flawlessly. Link to the fade-out clip which then links to a command sequence.
Command Sequence Script:
1. Moves highlighted SPRM to one of the registers (GPRM)
2. Checks register value and executes the target
Now my project looked even more professional with a fade transitions. :) Thanks auenf and to all who replied.
