hi all,

downloaded a video clip. trying to re-encode audio. the txt file that came with clip says audio was encoded using 128-192 VBR MP3. the clip plays find with media player. but when i open with vdub, it won't convert the audio. when i try to play clip through vdub, it gives error saying codec is missing.

i get this info, when i analyze clip:

Audio Format: MPEG Layer 3
Format ID: 0x0055
Author: Moving Picture Experts Group
Web Site: mpeg.telecomitalialab.com
This CODEC is distributed with MediaPlayer.

which seems same as any other clip i've encoded myself. what's going on? is there some new mp3 variation codec being used? is it some other type of audio format that just has mp3 header? i figure it can play in media player because it's using dshow codec of sorts.

anyhow anyway so that i can open?
