Subtitle Translator Program

I was wondering if anybody knows of any tools that I could use to translate my english subtitles to my original language (portuguese). No, I'm not asking for a tool to translate for me (though that would be perfect;) ), but just a way to create my own subtitles and add them to my backups...

Well, depends on the format of the subtitles. I think any decent subtitle editor should do ... you could even use the good old notepad ;)

btw. wouldn't it be easier to go to some subtitle site and download them in the desired language?

Subtitles are considered copyrighted material. Discussions on how to obtain such materials are not welcome on this board.
