If you reauthor the main movie cutting out warnings at the beginning and credits at the end with no compression is there any loss of quality in the reauthored version?

if the remaining cropped file is less than 4.37Gb then no you won't lose quality if you use no compression
DVDShrink tells you the size of the cropped movie anyway so you can tell instantly whether or not it's going to be reduced
its an exact copy if it is not reduced :)

The thing is, when you use the reauthor tool you cant keep the menu, and the structure... so the FBI and credits itself is not enough to make it fit on a single DVD-R (at least in over 95% it isint) its because you whipe out the other things too....

I use a combination of tools sometimes. In this case I am using dvd2one 1.3 to combine a flipper to one dvd+r.
I used DVDShrink to remove the garbage at the start and the credits at the end and reauthored without compression..
The I use dvd2one to combine and shrink down to size.
I was just wondering if the reauthoring step was reducing the quality before I actually ran it through dvd2one (which I know will compress and reduce quality).

Hi all. :)
chelrob, you can also combine a flipper (or make DVD compilations) with DVD Shrink v3.0 beta 5. ;)
If you're not familiar with this version, check the following guides:
http://www.dvdshrink.info/re-author-v3beta5.php
http://www.dvdshrink.info/re-author-v3beta5-advanced.php
To answer your question, "No Compression" will leave the video stream untouched.

Thanks for the reply. I plan on trying dvdshrink to do a flipper as well.
