HELP!:scared:
I know this has been discussed many times, and I followed the guide at http://ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com/joinclip.html
but still have not been able to get the result to play properly on my Sony standalone (DVP-NS300). They always play on my computer (WinDVD, PowerDVD, etc.) but as soon as it gets to the chapter where the VOB ID number increases by one, the standalone halts. I can advance to greater chapters and the standalone will start to play, then goes blank.

I use DVD Decrypter to rip in file mode, find the VOB ID of the first side, rename the second side VOBs and "join clips" with VOBEdit. After the second side VOBs are renamed and placed with the first side VOBS, use IfoEdit to "create Ifo's." Then use IfoEdit to create VTS Sectors" as usual. The result is usually too big for a DVD-R, so use IC-7 to squeeze it down to size and DVDDecrypter to burn in ISO Write mode. I have never had a problem with the standalone playing anything from IC-7 that was only from one DVD-9, but always those from two or "flip-disks." I don't own Nero, don't trust it.

Are there any other ways to do this?

Thanks in advance for any sage advice!

Current versions of DVD Shrink and DVD2One have joining capabilities. You could try DVD Shrink 3.0 beta5 in reauthor mode first since it's free.

I am trying to do the same thing and actually I have not found joining capabilities on DVD Shrink beta version. DVD Shrink rips different parts of the movie but it does not join them together and create one single movie. So each part which is ripped separately is treated as a separate movie, they are just playing in the order they were ripped. But the problem with that is that the standalone freezes for 2-3 seconds when is switching from previos set of VOBs (movie) to the following set of VOBs on the DVD.
I will try VOBEdit and see how it goes. My case is that I have ripped some chapters and parts of those from the same DVD and I want to put them all together to play seamlessly in my standalone.

@damsan05

DVD2One 1.3.0 has that feature to join your movie into a single titleset.

@2cool,

I've been using DVD Shrink beta a little while but can't see how to drag two different clips into the new movie in reauthor mode. Can you open two Shrink windows and drag across from one to the other?

Tnx,

EDIT #1: OK, I tried this by opening Shrink beta in two separate windows and, in reauthor mode, dragged the two clips (from HDD) into the new movie so in theory this can be done. The problem is that in this case, the two clips are both Title 1 (Gangs of NY) from two separate disks. After removing unwanted audio tracks and subs, I kept compression at zero. Shrink goes about its business. The trouble occurs after the first title, and Shrink stops and gives the following message:

"DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue this operation. Encoding failed for unknown reason! The reason is: Unknown."

EDIT #2: 2CCOL you are so very correct! I took the joined VOBs from VOBEdit which had a sequence of VOB ID's (1 thru 5) and ran them through DVD2ONE ver. 1.3.0. and low and behold the result is playable on my picky SONY SA! IfoEdit shows this has only VOB ID of 1. Thank you for the advice, now I have a method that works!
