I’ve added an extra subtitle to the main movie. Reauthor it using Maestro and used InfoUpdate to correct info file of the original DVD. The film played correctly however the extra subtitle could not be used. Only the original one played what ever was set. The info file contained both subtitle but they had the same ID number (ID: 0x20). The original reauthored info had different ID number (20 and 21). What can be the problem? How can I change the ID of the second subtitle?
Any suggestion?
Thanks!!

Hi,
did you check the option copy audio and subpicture table in ifoupdate? (which you should have in this case).
Two stremas with the same value is strange (wrong). What you can do is open up the ifo of any other dvd and see what value stream 2 normally has (those values are allways the same) and fill that value in in your ifo.
ANd: in Maestro you reauthored like original sub+new sub right?

Yes I do check copy audio and subtitle option in InfoUpdate.
However, by checking the format of the two info file I've found something different. The original info showed 16:9 letterbox while the new one authored with the new subtitle was 4:3.
I've read somewhere in this forum that this could cause this type of problem, only one subtitle can be seen. I did not set Maestro to 16:9. I'm rerunning right now.
Thanks for the comment.

Well, I've changed the aspect ratio for subtitle in Maestro I-Author to 16:9 letterbox before authoring. Finaly I eded up with a bad info as you see here:
VTS overview:
Menu attributes:
Video: MPEG-2 720x480 (NTSC) (NTSC 525/60) (16:9) (letterboxed)
SubPicture 1: Not Specified (2-bit rle )
Title Set (Movie) attributes:
Video: MPEG-2 720x480 (NTSC) (NTSC 525/60) (16:9) (letterboxed)
Audio 1: English (Dolby AC-3) 6ch 48Kbps DRC (ID: 0x80)
Audio 2: English (Dolby AC-3) 2ch 48Kbps DRC (ID: 0x81)
SubPicture 1: English (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x20)
SubPicture 2: Magyar (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x20)
If I let the original 4:3 the info correct. The aspect ratio of the movie (MPEG file) is 16:9.
I copy this as well.
Menu attributes:
Video: MPEG-2 720x480 (NTSC) (NTSC 525/60) (4:3) (not specified perm.display)
SubPicture 1: Not Specified (2-bit rle )
Title Set (Movie) attributes:
Video: MPEG-2 720x480 (NTSC) (NTSC 525/60) (4:3) (not specified perm.display)
Audio 1: English (Dolby AC-3) 6ch 48Kbps DRC (ID: 0x80)
Audio 2: English (Dolby AC-3) 2ch 48Kbps DRC (ID: 0x81)
SubPicture 1: English (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x20)
SubPicture 2: Magyar (2-bit rle ) (ID: 0x21)
So only the film works fine this way, however I can not incorporate into the original DVD havig every extras on it.
Any comment on it?
I need help desparatelly.
Thanks!

I'm a little bit confused. What's exactly wrong here?
Did you actually try ifoupdate on this newly created ifo and tested what the result was this time?

I've tried to mach the aspect view with the original DVD, that was 16:9. If I set the original aspect ratio (16:9) in Maesto I've eded up with 2 identical ID for the 2 different subtitle. That is not good, because you can not play both subtitle. If I let Maestro at an aspect ratio of 4:3 everything is fine with the authored info. The problem is with this I can not incorporate back to the original DVD (aspect ratio 16:9) because the 2 subtitle will have the same ID as shown above.
I should not get same ID for 2 different sub. I do not know how could it happened. But looks like the aspect ratio is the key factor here. I could do something wrong.
I demux mpeg and ac3 files with decripter and made the original subtitle with subrip and the new one with Masetro-SB. I've used Maestro to reauthor the files and used infoupdate to correct the info files of the original DVD.

I don't know how Maestro works exactly, since I allways use scenarist. You might still try adding the correct strema info to you rsubtitle stream after using ifoupdate, to see if that works (in PG_CITY)

Well, I've figured out the problem. When I convert the .ssa subtitle file to .son by using Maestro SBT I did not select the correct aspect correction under "Rendering" menu. This way I've made a .son file with .bmp with an aspect (4:3) did not mach the rest, film and the original subtitle. It is not enough to modify the aspect ration during reauthoring by Maestro but you have to have the correct sorce files, as well. Now it works perfectly.
About scenarist. I know that is a good authoring application hoewer a difficult one. I'm still learning backuping DVD and the easiest way with CCE and Maestro. But good to know an expert on this field whom can be asked. ;)
Thanks for the support.
