Any word on Divx 5.1.1?? Just curious as to when a bug-fix version was going to be released. Having an Athlon XP and not being able to use de-ringing is a bit annoying, but the encoding in Divx 5.1 is absolutely phenomenal!

I'll be really happy when QPel works with the new RC (slow/slowest modes)

I would be really happy when DivX incorporates 'Alert' boxes in their application!!!
Which will 'alert' users from selecting functions/settings that have no effect on their encodes.

Cheers

hum... this could boost the binary size with 2-4MB lol :D

IMHO, DivX networks should focus on seriously speeding up the codec on slow/slowest modes, cause it looks really good except it's not worth the time (I tried to encode the two towers, 3 hr movie). I think that DivX have now perfected (IMO) the mpeg-4 compression technique (assuming slowest/highest quality settings) except that its useless cause its too slow. If any DivX networks guys are here, please make the next release a speed boost, PLEASE...

Personally, I really can't see much difference with say a 700kbps 2pass VBR encode, using 'standard' mode or 'slowest' mode.

Don't get me wrong there is a difference but it's not significant enough to be worth the many extra hours of encoding time!

If you try the same experiment with WMV9 VCM. The extra hours of encoding time generates images that 'leaps off the screen'!
